1 Steak Exchange

If a big juicy slab o’ beef by the ounce-full is your thing and you won’t settle for anything but the best, this Australian steakhouse should be on your list of restaurants to see before that coronary finally gets to you. Expect to pay ¥400+ for two as it’s in the InterContinental Hotel, but worth it for true rib eye junkies. Tel: 5852-5888

2 Sizzler

Another apparent success of China’s tendency to completely rejuvenated foreign brands that perform poorly at home, this American eatery has made its way to China and brought with it great steak know-how. And at under ¥100, it’s a bargain! Tel: 6532-0475 (International Club) or 6471-3876

3 Block House

Australia has Outback Steakhouse, Germany (or more specifically Guanghua Lu) has Block House. Come here if you’re looking for fast and friendly service to go along with a wide selection of all different kinds of meat dishes: tenderloin, burgers, steaks ... they’ve got it all here and at around ¥100 for mains. Tel: 6561-6166

4 Sorabol

Sorabol is not your classic steak place, quite obviously. But this long-established Korean restaurant does do meat extrmely well and at reasonable prices. It’s also the only one of the bunch that does raw beef dishes. Tel: 6609-4138

5 Park Grill At Trio

If your idea of a romantic date happens to involve mouth-watering, juicy steaks, you’re going to want to take your significant other out to Park Grill in Lido. Featuring an intimate environment, live piano music and everything else for setting the fine dining mood, Park Grill is great fare at down-to-earth prices. Tel: 6437-8399
