FIND OF THE WEEK: Dessert | Q Bar

Dessert Island
While it may be better known for its cocktails, Q Bar’s kitchen is a hidden gem in the Beijing dining scene, or at least the city’s appetizer and dessert scene. The bar’s menu, launched in April, offers a range of beautifully presented gourmet bar snacks (which can be combined for a light meal) and a selection of desserts. We were particularly impressed by the Three Mini Bagels (¥55), an assortment of the best bagels to be found in central Beijing, served with great fillings like turkey and honey mustard. We’re also still thinking about the Cream Yogurt (¥40), a gorgeous dessert served in a tall glass, with layers of rich yogurt and big, juicy blueberries in a fruity red wine reduction, studded with tiny crunchy meringues. On first sight the dessert’s too pretty to eat, but once you’ve dug in, you’ll only be thinking about the delicious combination of yogurt, berries and meringue—just the thing to accompany a great drink.
