FIND OF THE WEEK: Sequoia | Deli & Sandwich
Get Hooked
A good sandwich can be hard to find in Beijing, but the first moment we sunk our teeth into Sequoia’s Roast Beef and Cheddar (¥35), we knew we had a winner. Now we’re so addicted we eat the sandwich at least once a week. It could be the bread, which is delightfully fresh and chewy, baked daily at Sequoia. Then again, it could be the satisfying layers of Hormel beef, or perhaps the addition of Australian cheddar (because, really, what’s a sandwich without cheese?). However, we suspect our constant cravings also have something to do with the generous portion of spicy mustard that complements the beef perfectly and drips down the sides of the sandwich, giving it a fantastically tangy kick. As an extra bonus for us members of the 9-to-5 grind, Sequoia also delivers to your door, a service that’s saved many a CW editor from starvation. We’ve got one final word of advice for soon-to-be Sequoia junkies: try a fresh-baked ginger muffin for dessert.
