MVP: Candice Lee | Beijing Ultimate Frisbee
Disc Jockeys
Who plays ultimate frisbee in Beijing? It’s just starting at a lot of universities. People have been throwing Frisbee carnivals, teaching it at high schools. We’ve been giving discs to the international schools. Any events coming up? Tons! At the end of May we’ll have the second China national tournament. We’re inviting local teams from all over China. If we can get lots of people to come watch, it’s great support for the local players. So how do I join? Right now we’re playing three times a week. Check out our Google Group and come, or call me. What’s been your most memorable moment in Beijing Ultimate? There's a theme for every tournament, so at the first tournament in Hong Kong we dressed up as the Beijing Olympic team. We had divers, ping pong players... I was a speed walker. At a tournament at Cheju, Korea, last year we dressed up as Clue characters. Which one were you? They ran out of colors, so I was Princess Paisley. So, tell us, how ultimate are you? More ultimate than you can imagine. So many people will give up their bodies to get a disc. I tore my ACLs! People hear "Frisbee," and they’re like, “oh yeah, my dog plays that,” but it’s actually very intense and competitive.
