I’m Batman!
Why’s it called cricket? Bizarrely, I think it comes from croquet originally. It’s a derivation ...They all started off as the same sport, it got a bit anglicized into cricket one way or the other and the rules changed a little bit, but the whole principle’s the same. Yeah, because all the other sports are pretty self-explanatory. Your baseballs, your footballs... I’ve had a few injuries in my time from cricket, and whenever I try to explain it to my Chinese colleagues what it’s all about, they always say “You got a cricket injury? An insect bit you?” Do you just play against each other, or do you play around China? We have our own three-team league, the Santa Fe League, which is kicking off very soon, middle of March, but we also play against regional sides. Do I have to be good at cricket to play with BCC? We obviously have really good players, but we’re encouraging anybody who wants to give it a go to come down. We’re going to have regular coaching and training sessions for new players and for younger players also. Do cricket players get the girls? Oh, yeah. You know, it’s a certain kind of girl, a girl with a little bit of class, a little bit of style, an appreciation of the finer things in life, and yeah, that’s your woman.
