You’re part of the Soojin Dance Team here in Beijing, which has performed with the NFL, CBA and even the Olympics. How did you get into dancing? Between the ages of 10 and 25, I was doing classical Chinese dance. I found out about Soojin’s group a little more than a year ago and have been doing it ever since. Why switch from classical Chinese dance to Soojin? When I heard about Soojin, I figured I would give it a try. I also needed something to help me relax.
Being on one of China’s best dance teams doesn’t sound very relaxing. When I am not dancing, I am a bond trader for China International Capital Corporation. Being involved with finance is such a stressful environment. Dancing is relaxing by comparison.
Wow, a bond trader. You still have time for Soojin? I’ve been in more than 25 performances and travelled to places such as Shanghai, Zhengzhou and Hubei. I am more about practicing than performing. I am 33 years old, much older than most of the other girls on the team. I leave it to them to perform. It is good for them to have the spotlight.
You’re cheerleading at 33 years old? How do you maintain such an intense level of fitness?Being healthy is important, but for me, it is also about having fun. We’re a team. We dance together, we cry together. It’s about the camaraderie.
