What kind of group is Beijing Hikers? How many people are involved?
We are a group of people who just love to hike, explore and see how people live in villages in the suburb of Beijing. Now we have five people working for the group.

What kind of hikes have you put together so fab
We had many special hiking tours like Christmas hiking and BBQ hiking. Last time over 60 people joined our BBQ hiking tour where we hired a professional Korean BBQ chef and had wine on top of a mountain! Last year we had a mini-exhibition showing works of photographers on our tours. We plan to do that every year to show how beautiful the mountains around Beijing are.

How did the group come about? How did you get involved?
My older sister Huilin and her husband Gary Pinneger started the group in 2001. I took over in 2003 when they moved to Australia. My day job is as a 3-D graphic designer, and I used to spend all my time in front of a computer. Gary and Huilin had to whip me into shape and make me remember many hiking routes before they handed me the group.

Which hiking route is your favorite?
Beijing’s West Mountain is the one. Streams flow through the green high mountains. The best part is the ancient pathways leading to mysterious temples where gods have been worshiped for thousands of years.
