MY EVENT: Crosstalk at the De Yun She Theater

My Event is the crosstalk performances at the De Yun She Theater on Friday May 9th. The Tian Qiao Theater is right across from Tiantan Park. Every week they host several crosstalk shows. I usually try to make it over at least once a week. I love crosstalk. It’s like complete cultural submersion. It’s not just jokes. The performers always tell you a story too. It might be from current events or it might be from the Three Kingdoms, but it gives you so much background on the culture. I was born and raised in Beijing, but I think anyone can enjoy a crosstalk show.

I've been there for a couple of times. The unconventional style surely injected some new blood into the less booming crosstalk market and even the traditional Chinese culture.
What I'm still not sure about is the less chance to see Guodegang while at the same time his frequent appearance on TV series. Whether it is good for the survival and the further revitalization of this art form in the market economy is still something we should wait and see...
