NEW BARS: The Saddle Cantina | Sanlitun
Let the Fiesta Begin
Poised to become one of the summer’s hottest venues, the newest project by Rickshaw owners Chad, Kris and Nick, follows in the footsteps of its older, uglier brother with punch packing cocktails (¥50-55), big booths and a fun atmosphere for a night out with friends. Tequila fans will love the additional 15ml “tequila float” option for already strong margaritas, as well as the selection of top grade Mexican tequilas. The Saddle Cantina boasts the capital's first ice taps, with draught Stella (¥40) and Hoegaarden (¥70) served at sub-zero temperatures. And, they’re developing their own microbrewery. Service is friendly, but not flawless. The music, featuring a heavy concentration of Latin beats, is fun and (thankfully) not played at Rickshaw volume. Between the colorful Mexican décor, the margaritas, the fresh tortilla chips and guacamole, and the stack of sombreros provided for customers who forget to bring their own, we have to admit we felt a little nostalgic for Chili’s.

Great venue. I couldn't believe I was in Sanlitun. The margaritas are fantastic! And huge, and they can do take-away, just in case. Excellent first impression. I will be going back.
