Kro’s Nest: Room to Kro

Kro is back to retake his old stomping grounds with a new restaurant that is, without a doubt, the best place in Sanlitun to scratch your late-night American-style pizza itch. But does “best” mean good? Décor-wise, we love what Kro’s done with the place. The sleek vibe perfectly fits the restaurant’s smaller space and Sanlitun location. But Kro’s ‘za is polarizing. Some love the huge pies (a “medium” is a mighty 18 inches, the large an eye-popping 22; ¥94 for a medium plain, ¥229 for a large with everything). Others think it’s a greasy mess. Our take? American and American-ized stomachs will feel right at home, but it’s not a good enough exemplar of pizza à la Americana to win any converts.

Our rating: 3.5/5 stars
