If you’re searching for a kitsch-tastic dose of Americana, TGI Friday’s fits the bill. The pleasant design even boasts a diner-style corner where you can watch food being prepared. “Friday’s burger” (¥55) is a solid sandwich, and doesn’t crumble in our hands like Blue Frog’s. Juicy bacon gives it a shot of flavor, mixing nicely with the beef, cheese and onion rings. The honey-mustard dip greatly enhances the buffalo wings (¥39), though they’re still not a patch on Homeplate BBQ’s. Jack Daniel’s ribs (¥88) come off the bone smooth, and the sweet sauce is a welcome addition. But this dish, like most of TGI F’s offerings, leans to the bland and family-friendly, with little in the way of deep, memorable flavors.
