Electric Shadows is a multi-media platform with a focus on film. What can we expect at an Electric Shadows event?
In a city where the majority of inhabitants watch films on DVD in their homes, we create events where people can come together for a shared experience. When attending an Electric Shadows event, you will be transported to a world quite different from a multiplex, your living room or a bar.
Why the name Electric Shadows?
Electric Shadows is the literal translation of the word “film” in Chinese. It evokes for us a mystery and magic in film which we love, the idea of shadows dancing on a screen, the ways in which people in different communities and societies throughout the world, throughout the history of humanity, have developed ways of sharing stories.
Is Electric Shadows involved in filmmaking?
We have filmmakers, DJs and sound designers who contribute to short installations accompanying the film screenings and provide VJ sets for events. We are also starting film workshops in the fall at CNEX Café in film analysis, writing and practical filmmaking skills.
Are you looking for volunteers?
We need translators, anyone who can help build our website and volunteers who would like to be more involved. We’re always open to ideas for new events and anyone who’d like to create films or sound pieces.
