My Peeps: Greg May | The Go Club

Get Up and Go

So why the Go Club?
We started it because we couldn't find another organization that focused on bringing the game to new players. Other organizations exist, but they focus on advanced players, and they don't work much with expats.
Do you do anything besides playing against each other?
We encourage players to help one another out, and our more skilled members try to offer assistance with strategy and Go puzzles. Usually we take a break from our games and end the night with discussions or other games. We're hoping to arrange a trip to a local Go school that one of our members helped found, where some of the best and brightest Chinese youth learn Go full-time.
What exactly's so special about Go?
Go's fascinating for many reasons, not least because no two games of Go have even been alike, and there are more possible games than atoms in the known universe. That's one of the reasons there has never been a successful Go computer program. The complexity may seem daunting, but it's actually really fun to play.
