VIVA is an organization for businesswomen in China. Are there any specific challenges or benefits for women doing business here?

Overall, I feel that a lot of the challenges that women face are universal and not necessarily specific to China. Many of the issues our members talk about are the same ones that I heard when I was based in Vancouver, BC. In some ways the market here is more receptive to new business ideas and ventures. The women I’ve met at VIVA have some incredible stories and really exemplify this openness.

What kind of support does VIVA offer?

In addition to the monthly events we host, we are launching support groups in a range of areas such as finance, the creative industry and for working mothers. In a little over one year we have already over 150 members.

Who has been VIVA’s most memorable speaker so far?

We have had some amazing women speak: authors, entrepreneurs, coaches, businesswomen. Our events are very welcoming with an incredibly diverse group of women that are entrepreneurs, artists and professionals of every age and nationality.

Where do you see VIVA in the future?

We are very clear about our mission and that is Inspire, Connect and Learn. As we continue to support our membership with new services and opportunities, whatever we do will be grounded back to these three key elements of our mission.
