That Healin’ Feeling

Located within the new Grand Millennium Hotel, Spa by MTM is the latest addition to Beijing’s spa scene, and it has certainly made an impression. Nowhere else have we encountered such personalized care and first-class service in one spot.

Realizing that everyone is unique, MTM has created a skincare philosophy centered on “custom-blended skincare [that is] as unique as you are.” Guests begin with a private consultation to determine what areas need improvement. Based on these findings, a therapist will use a combination of natural ingredients and essence formulas from MTM’s line of custom-blended skincare to create a treatment that is unique to the individual.

Our ￥1,650 Ginger Healer Treatment lasted a full three hours and was divine from start to finish. Featuring a host of tropical fruit enzymes to whiten and exfoliate, the package began with a ginger-milk bath inside a Jacuzzi tub, where we soon found ourselves submerged in a foot of bubbles. It was a scene straight out of Pretty Woman.

Next was our lymphatic massage. Our massage table was unlike any we had ever seen with a pillow that tilted upwards, and was surprisingly comfortable. Soon we were falling in and out of consciousness as our therapist deftly kneaded our knotted bodies into their rightful position. It was bliss.

A luxurious shower and a snack of pound cake later, and we were off—ready to seize the day, with a smile planted firmly on our faces.
