WHERE YOU DRINK...If You're a Fulbrighter

Anna Zimmermann (USA)
I like the Bell and Drum Café which is between the Bell and the Drum tower. It's a nice cafe on the second floor. It has a balcony, and so we sit on the rooftop. You get to see the two towers, it's a pretty area, and there are lots of people walking around that square during the evening. There's always a lot of people there, so it's fairly lively, but it's still a pretty laid back atmosphere for having drinks. I got here about nine months ago and for a while I just hung out in Wudaokou, and, to be fair, I still am in Wudaokou a lot, but I'm working somewhere else. As a result I also have friends that live in Gulou. I think their neighborhood has a little more charm, a little more te'se.
