Fubar Description

Hidden behind a grey faux-brick wall inside Stadium Dogs, this secret speakeasy serves impeccably-mixed drinks and specialty cocktails at very reasonable prices. The sleek red and black décor coupled with vintage jazz tunes give Beijing's in-the-know revelers the impression they've entered a classy establishment from a bygone era.

Fantastic spot. Great drinks and a fun atmosphere. Love the buddha cocktails served in ceramic buddhas.

With the foreigner boss MR Chad now not being there ,sure there the charm is missing. I went there and didnt find it as attractive a place , the vibe before and now there was difference. The drinks too I guess were not the same.

Despite the management hullabaloo, there isn’t a lot a lot of change from the last time I visited. Drinks still good but the bar is too smoky and dark for me. Plus there are too many college students. I prefer to go somewhere where I can hang out with friends and not feel like I bathed in nicotine. Hotdogs used to be something to look forward to but now they just taste like something that they HAD to do to complete the concept.

Without a doubt, my favourite bar in Beijing. The novelty of the door never gets old. Happy hour cocktails are amazing (i just get loads of dark 'n' stormy before 9pm). If youre feeling in need of nourishment, you can get hot dogs and chips next to the toilets. Nice atmosphere.

I love the winter drink menu, I wonder if I could keep up drinking them right through to summer? Warm apple cider does the trick for me (rum!!) and the hot toddy is awesome too. Great thing the drinks are hot, because I always find that bar on the cold side...

Love this place. If you're looking for dancing and bumping music, this is not the place for you. But if you want drinks that are tall and tasty and a good atmosphere to relax with friends, look no further. I highly recommend trying the tiger bite. Half tiger beer, half strongbow cider, and a squeeze of raspberry flavor. As far as I know it's the only bar in Beijing that serves it.

This American prohibition-style speakeasy is cool and hip, but on the expensive side for a bar modeled after hidden watering holes. Still, it remains a fun, quirky place for a drink.

Overall good. Drinks a tad bit on the pricy side, but usually pretty large so its okay. Cocktails are mostly spot on, its a good place that pulls off that "neighborhood bar" feel while still a bit more classed up and unique as well. Usually a decent crowd, just got a "unwinding in the evening after a long day" kinda vibe to it for me. It can get a bit smokey, being all enclosed and all.

Between here and George's right nearby, I'm liking gongti better than sanlitun more and more these days.

The entrance is quite cool ,but the drinks inside priced slightly higher than one expects.
I saw the owner is quite cool but I felt stuffy inside, and couldnt stay for long .Nothing wrong with the bar but I couldnt find great things as my expectations were high.

The entrance is pretty cool, but after that it's not really much more than a glorified dive bar. Crowd was a mix of arty types and expats. Wait staff don't really seem to know much about what they are selling. Wine list is basically "red or white".

I took my visiting friend here to have some pre dinner drinks for her birthday celebrations... it was such a great place.. my first visit ! i love how they make the experience of drinking more fun by letting you take home the buddhas and shot glasses... it was alot of fun... staff were lovely and helpful... the only thing is ,is that its quite small... big groups i wouldnt suggest this place as a pre drinks place!

though i love the drinks, and chad is a service biz whiz, i second the need for better ventilation, which i know is tough in that setup. otherwise a fantastic bar to crash with friends for a fun night.

Great bar. Chad is awesome. The service is excellent. The music is good and not too loud. Seats are comfortable. Mojitos are delicious, but last weekend I discovered that Fubar might also have the best white russians in the city -- they're RMB40 and about twice as big as all the other bars where I've had white russians (Cheers, Souk, Bar Blu, Alfa) and taste really special (extra kahlua? Or cream? Not sure). Except for super crowded nights, this place is always at the top of my list.

Killer mojitos, efficient service, great background music, just crowded enough on weekdays and packed on weekends.

Although the concept of keeping the cocktail glasses is fun, it's somehow embarassing having to explain to your ayi why there are so many penis -shaped on the kitched counter.

Like this place as not too crowded specially on weekdays till Thursday .Good to get a friend to catch up while enjoying some cocktails. I like the overall setting, the lighting.I avoid this place on weekends as if one or two large groups the whole place has too many people.
The waitstaff are prompt.

I'm really not quite sure what everyone finds so enthralling about this bar. Nice decor, easy on the eye. A relaxing atmosphere. But apart from the novely door, an attempt to create the illusion of a speak-easy, there is not much else. While the drinks are good, though a little over-priced beyond happy hour which ends at 9pm, this venue is just a magnet for trendy expats. The bar is exceedingly smoky with little or no air conditioning. Even for a smoker this made the evening uncomfortable. The western style toilets are clean however. Not terrible, but not outstanding either.

I was there for new year. Unfortunately their Stereo System failed at some point. But besides that it was a lot of fun (busy but not super crowded).
The thing that I remember most is that I was served a warm beer, went back to complain, they said they are out of cold beers and it will take some time for cooling new ones. However, they not only took my warm beer back, they also gave me a free Gin and Tonic while waiting for a cold beer. That was so far the best service I have experienced in Beijing, so full points from me.

Hands down the best spot to go with a group of friends. Great drinks, cool atmosphere.

The owner, Chad, really understands customers, you'll never have a problem at his place.

Also a great place to bring an out of town guest. The coolness of finding a bar that's hidden and has no signage will make them feel that they've really gone local. The fact that they are certainly drinking genuine Stella and not a fake knockoff will protect them from the stomach cramps that they'd feel if they really had gone local ;)

FUBAR is one of those perfect little bars that you want to tell the world about... but almost hate to do, because you fear it'll end up overrun and ruin the vibe.

"Hidden" in the bowels of Stadium Dog, itself tucked away inside Worker's Stadium (Gonti Dongmen gate), you enter FUBAR by heading towards Stadium Dog's bathroom... and then mashing a button on the wall, which opens the wall, revealing the entrance. That's it... no signage, no bouncer, no hawkers. This old-school, speakeasy-style, entry sets the tone from the start.

The bar itself is relatively small, but in an intimate and not cramped way. There's a bar level, a second level above it, and then a back room with couches.

Drinks are big, strong, and benefit heavily from quality house pours. A default G&T is made with Bombay Saphire - 30 kuai. Ditto a house vodka tonic - 42 Below vodka... 30 kuai. Mixed drinks and martinis are also made with top-shelf pours, and run 50 kuai or so.

Though its owned by some of the former manager of TUN, Rickshaw and (I think) Luga's, its got very little in common with those locales. FUBAR's ambience is jazz and lounge music, friendly people, and good drinks.

When I try to think of a comparable bar, I think of CENTO. Very different vibes, mind you, but competing for the same mindspace. You don't go to FUBAR to shake your butt or drink shots of pirate rum... its a good place to go to hang with friends, or unwind after work, or "prime the pump" before clubbing. It'd be a perfect place for a "business drink" with a colleague, or a first date drink with a girl, as you can actually hear yourself drink, and the vibe is classy.

I've never had them, because I'm pretty much a vodka/bourbon guy (best jack&coke in town, for RMB 40), but I'm told the mojito is outstanding, and there are several cocktails that come in these crazy mugs - one's a giant buddha, and the other's a tall fu manchu looking thing. You take the mug home with you.

Anyhow... currently my favorite bar in Beijing, for a combination of quality booze, value, vibe, and professional management.

One of the chillest places to have a drink in Beijing Their mojitos are pure danger in a glass. As in like "I'm just having one with my friends to unwind on a Wednesday and suddenly I've had three and it's 2am on a Thursday" kind of danger in a glass. Great 1-2 punch with Stadium Dog.
