Description

The highest bar in Beijing, this 80th floor club affords a view all the way from Tian’anmen to the mountains encircling Beijing. Sophisticated but not staid, the bar is worthy of its exceptional real estate. Revelers sip expertly mixed cocktails and puff fine cigars while swinging to live jazz and peering out the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Food is ok either western or Asian is ok. I'm not so critical as it's a bar. The prices match the view. Ok not much of a view unless you like to see lines of endless traffic. Not a fan of the cigar smell. Not a fan of the service. 15% service charge and I get the stink eye for hunting down a waitress to order? My friend having to clear his own plate to make room. Come on.

The best views of the city on a clear night. Fantastic cocktails and a classy atmosphere. A must for when visitors are in town

Gets too loud and smoky. I prefer going downstairs to the lounge area outside grill 79 and take in the lights of the city while sipping a drink.

My go-to destination to impress visitors in Beijing with cocktails to back up the view. Obviously gorgeous on clear days, even when the weather is uncooperative you can be guaranteed a well-made cocktail and really delicious mixed nuts from the bar.

We wanted something a bit special for a visitor's last night, but sadly it was too smoggy for a good view. Cocktails were spot on though - worth the price for a well-mixed classic when you've got a few places in Bejing charging the same for mediocre - and service was unintrusive but attentive. Music was pretty average when we visited, just a background hum rather than the main event, which is fine by me. Hope to visit again on a clear evening!

This is a great bar to take guests but only if it is a relatively smog-free day! The prices are steep but excusable with the view. However, if there is no view I am not sure it is worth it. The drink selection is impressive but the food is not outstanding. Come here for the view and the experience!

We were there for the afternoon tea but did not have a reservation, so they seated us in the smoking section. It was a rather hazy day so nothing impressive about the view from up above. The afternoon tea set starts at 2. We opted for the one that was about RMB300 for 2 persons. But weird thing was it only came with tea for one person. The sandwiches and pastries were tasty. The cakes were just alright. Decor was classy but the sofa covers looked a bit tired. Servers were efficient but not friendly or polite. I did not even hear a thank you after I was given my receipt.

Amazing bar. The view is marvelous, the wines are some of the finest I've tasted so far. AND smokers (who ignore the non-smoking sign) get kicked out without fail:)

Comfortable and spacious with a smoking and non-smoking area The Atmosphere is certainly different from other drinking establishments in Beijing. However, there is a price to be paid for the comfort, modern décor and excellent views with the drinks ranging from 55 RMB to well over 100 RMB. A gin and tonic was 65 RMB and a 330 ml bottle of Guinness was the same, though the waiter evidently had no idea how to pour it and if one had not stopped him there would have been a head on it as large as the building itself! Well perhaps not quite, but Guinness should be poured slowly into a tilted glass, not from a height of six inches as though one were filling a bucket with water. On the plus side one is offered a dish of complementary nuts, a mixture consisting wasabi coated peanuts, crispy seaweed coated peanuts and salted peanuts. It was replenished too as one came to finishing the bowl. The view is quite good, obviously very good on a clear blue sky day, though the windows could have done with a clean, and sight lines are restricted due to the architectural construction. There is free WiFi available, after clicking the 'I agree' tab on opening your browser, and the toilets are very clean. In the evening there is live entertainment with a band playing a mixture of pop and jazz, so we were informed by the manager, though it could be an expensive evening given the bar prices. During the day the clientèle was a mixture of young socialites and business people discussing deals. Worth at least one visit, it is accessed by a fast express elevator which takes you to the 80th floor in around 45 seconds.

Perfect if you our out to impress or need a really special place to celebrate. George, the mixologist is fantastic - everything is perfectly done - puts others in the Apothecary/Q Bar class to shame. For those who really enjoy a good drink.

Why there is always a great looking place with bad service??? This place has amazing looking view, but there are only two bar tenders working behind the bar on the busy night? We have waited for an hour to get into the Lounge, then had to wait for another 35 mins for our drinks... what can I say? they earn enough money and don't care about the service.

Atmosphere is easily one of the town's best lounges. The view is, indeed, pretty amazing - although being Beijing, there's a high likelihood it'll be obscured by smog a good 80% of the time, limiting its true worth. Still, its dizzying to look DOWN on the CCTV building, dwarfed beneath the China World Summit. The drinks are very good. The price-tag isn't cheap - in the ¥70 range for many of the mixed drinks - but that tends to be the price point at many of the competing CBD lounges like Centro, Xiu, LAN, etc - and I'd take a night at Atmosphere over any of those choices, hands down. Frankly it feels a little hotel-loungey for my taste, but overall the design, service, band, etc all compliment one another well, making this a great place to unwind after a long day at work, or to take a client or visitor to impress.

Despite being on the 80th floor, it doesn't offer a fantastic view of Beijing as the sight lines are hindered by the building's architecture and design. The drinks aren't outrageously over-priced and surprisingly there isn't a surcharge as would be expected in a hotel bar. It is worth visiting to check out Nancy the singer who has performed Centro the past two years. However, the band and the stage is awkwardly placed at the end of the bar, away from where people gather and in front of the VIP room.
