Description

This beautiful sunny little cafe in Taikoo Li North serves up a menu of high-quality, casual Italian trattoria fare. Don't miss the roasted Portobello mushroom and lentil salad, or the bruschetta, made with fresh-baked bread. A large selection of rich Italian desserts makes this a good afternoon stopover.

Yesterday was my first time at Colibri after renovation, the vegetarian lasagna was really good, tasty, juicy and tender. But I think their paninis are really overpriced, 68RMB for panini with semi-dried tomatoes (tasted and looked like fresh tomatoes), mushrooms and cheese that wasn't even melted, that's too expensive for the quality you get. They have three kinds of smoothies, only two of them were available, I ordered banana smoothie, it came very warm and lacked taste, they said it was fresh-made, but we were seating in front of their blenders, nobody used them and we didn't hear any blender noise coming from kitchen, I couldn't finish it, because it was too bad. But I must say their baked goods, such as croissants, olive bread, sun-dried tomato bread are very good. So I would only go there to pick up some pastry for breakfast.

Colibri is one of the nicest working / meeting environments in Beijing. The internet is always fast and reliable (looking at you, Moka Bros) and the set lunch a great value considering the surrounding options. For a lighter fare, the broccoli and cauliflower salad is one of my favorite dishes in Beijing, even if they use turkey bacon. Though Moka Bros is the hip new place and Wagas occupies a special, sentimental place in my heart (even if I'm the last person in Beijing who thinks that), Colibri wins for its everyday ease and elegance of taste and service. Give the cupcakes a miss, though - one of my friends describes them as "dry, flavourless muffins" and I'm more than inclined to agree.

If you go late afternoon, you never know what items will be available ,which breads will available. Its a clean place and internet works well , but only if you get your eats what you need then its a good place to visit, otherwise you get frustrated and make sacrifices to order something else. Yes you need to pay premium prices but I dont mind if the stuff is good.

Not only is the service spot on, and the almond cappuccino delicious, but the internet is great! Whenever I'm in the Village and have time to kill, I head over to Colibri to just chill and sometimes try to get some work done, too. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit high for pretty standard things like coffee, cookies and breads, but the service is spot on.

So I was standing behind someone who was causing a long queue to form while they went through the entire menu board asking the cashier one by one the cost of each item. Colibri, why don't you just put the prices on the board? It would have saved everyone a lot of time and frustration. The cupcakes are astonishingly good; among the best that can be found in Beijing. The paninis are quite disappointing considering the price tag they carry; Bocata across the road serves up much better ones for substantially less cash. Sitting outside is nice, but inside is rather clinical; I prefer somewhere more warm and inviting.

Nice place to go to chill out in the open air. Good sandwitches and good capuccino.

I absolutely love all their cupcakes! The staff are polite and nice. Only thing is you have to go up to the counter to place your order (which reminds me of fast food restaurants). They send your order to your table though. The space is pretty big if you include outdoor seating in the warmer months. I have been going back again and again the last 6 months.

The small cupcakes is better than the bigger ones, they have quite good choices for the cupcakes. The sandwich is ok. They could do better for the drink though. Some drink doesn't taste well. Best drink here is the hot chocolate. The place itself is hip, nice and cozy, you can sit indoor or outdoor. Easy to find in sanlitun village and a good place to hang out.

Don't like their cupcakes at all. Too dry, not my cup of tea. Much prefer going to Crepanini. In fact, everything is just so-so here, and with all the other awesome places in the area, I really don't find myself here very often. I do enjoy their sandwiches, but nothing is so good to compel me to come back. Shame, because the cafe itself is very pleasant

Very pretty venue, but the cupcakes are so dry they're inedible, and the icing isn't very good, either. The savory menu items are all okay, but nothing really stands out that would make me go back. Best thing here is the iF juice.

I want to love this nicely designed, airy little cake shop. Their food and drinks selection are vast and impressive. They also have wifi, which is a plus on my books. However, since this is a cupcake shop, I came specifically to try their cupcakes. On this occassion, I had a carrot cupcake, which I was not too happy about. The cake was very oily and had no carrot flavour. The cream cheese frosting lacks acid and the overall taste is bland. Their grilled cauliflower salad with feta cheese (very little of it, btw), grapes and bacon was a much better choice.

Colibri Cafe is alright. The service is good, efficient and polite. I tried the potato & leek soup (28 kuai) and the cauliflower & feta cheese salad (48 kuai). In taste and consistency the soup was average (neither bad nor extraordinary), but it was nicely plated with a slice of toasted baguette. The cauliflower and feta cheese salad consisted of cauliflowers sitting on a bed of greens, accompanied with sliced grapes, bread cubes, sliced mini-eggs, red lettuce (some of it mixed with the greens and the rest had been marinated and folded into square envelopes), and feta cheese. I enjoy good salads and this one was lacking in salad dressing and tasted bitter. I can't put my finger on what was actually bitter, the dressing itself or some of the red lettuce that had been marinated and folded into square envelopes. I ate what I could, from time to time I had to stop and have a few spoonfuls of soup to wash it down. I don't know if I'll be back again, but if I do I will try their pumpkin soup.

A good little cafe and and nice addition to Sanlitun North Village! Coffee was great, pumpkin soup was delicious, and the double chocolate and orange/poppy seed cupcakes were very yummy indeed. Pepperoni panini was also delish, although a little expensive for what it was. Overall, a pleasant experience with good staff and quick service - a good place for a quick bite, or to sit and have a quiet coffee!

I tried almond&cherry and choco&banana cupcakes today and they were both delicious. The savory wasn't as good as I expected though. The breads are pretty bad, but maybe I'm being unfair since I'm comparing them to South German Bakery's. I had chicken baguette and despise not liking the baguette, the chicken and sauce are nicely done. Big chunk of avocado leave a big smile on my face. The pumpkin soup wasn't exactly how I like. It's rich and creamy but not much flavour in it. I'm also blaming the bread that comes with the soup. Would give 3.5 if I could.

We specifically sought out this cafe because one of our friends said they had tasty cupcakes. I've had a lemon cupcake here. It was divine, it was not too sweet and the cupcake melted in my mouth. Coffee was above average. I hope to come back to Colibri for lunch one day to sample their other items.

Had the chicken baguette sandwich and the pumpkin soup. Everything was spot on. Pumpkin soup might be the best I've had in Beijing. Could eat the chicken sandwich for lunch every day of the week. The mayo has this hint of something citrusy, the bread is nice and crusty, the portion (at RMB48) doesn't leave you feeling cheated. Only complaint was that the soup was served at about a million degrees. But that's minor.

Had a couple of cupcakes at their opening a few weeks back. Quite good! They are definitely going to taste different to Americans raised on spongy hostess cupcakes, these are really more cakey. I'm going to rate them a little higher than Lollipop based on that.
