This is a nice restaurant to go to for brunch and dinner. The staff is very friendly. There is usually no wait time unlike some of the other restaurants. No wait time is good for me because I hate it when I have to wait for 30 minutes until a table is available. They have a good portion of food on the plate and the drinks are good. I think it was the berry blast there are actually two drinks I tasted both excellent. Very relaxing! Great location!

This is the best salad in Beijing right here. There's no doubt. It was DELICIEUX. Big enough for a guy like me, I had a mouthful. I didn't really try anything else except the salad though, so I can't really give any other advice for other dishes. But I think it's best to go there for lunch because it's crowed and you feel the great mood! It's nice that waiters introduce themselves to us, it brings us closer. Overall: Great salad, great service, and best moment to go there is for lunch with a couple of friends!

I went here last night and the food was great, but thankfully I wasn't the one paying. I had a peanut butter protein smoothie that was 58 kuai (holy crap) for a large size. It was pretty good but something seemed a little off, basically it tastes like it's China's version of a peanut butter banana smoothie, and definitely not worth that price. For food I ordered the chilean beef salad - the ingredients were fresh and delicious and the beef was insanely good. I guess 98 kuai is pretty reasonable for the quality of the dish, but it still seems pretty steep to me. $16 for a salad is kind of absurd...? The service wasn't bad, and even though they were down a waiter there was nothing to complain about.

Element Fresh hosts all the right ‘elements’ needed for a fantastic dining experience: excellent fresh food, excellent service and an excellent atmosphere! The fresh juices are the best in town, as are the innovative and healthy salads and wraps. Above all, the staff and management all have a professional, positive and attentive attitude -ensuring your fresh dishes and drinks arrive at your table with a warm and hospitable smile. If you are in Sanlitun you must set aside time to visit and eat here; you will not be disapointed! Wishing you love, peace & eternal happiness….

Don't usually write comments about restaurants, but have just had a great lunch at element fresh. The salad and sandwich i had were both very fresh and offered exceptional value for money. The serving staff were very friendly and welcoming and efficient and was pretty surprised at their level of the English language. I will definitely be going back to the sanlitun store as the terrace is a great meeting point.

I used to go often in Shanghai where it was consistent. So decided to have breakfast here. It was ok except everything was cold. When I pointed this out the manager got in touch with me and asked me to come in again on them. She was very sweet and it was a nice touch I thought. Went for dinner and ordered a Moroccan chicken and lamb dish. Now this was amateur hour at its worst. Cold, chicken was raw in places, overspiced, well actually cinnamon was all that could be tasted. I go out to enjoy myself, not to complain. I am really tired of the sub standard fare that is served up in Beijing.

I went for brunch, which was good, but I don't think it was so good that it's worth the price tag. More importantly, the service is definitely not worth the price tag. One of my friends is a vegetarian, and asked the waitress if she could swap the bacon that came with a menu item for grilled tomato instead. Not only did the waitress give her an emphatic NO (without explanation), but she looked angry that we had asked. Our brunch items also came with bottomless coffee, but we had to basically chase down a random hostess to get a refill. The food here is decent, but without the service to go with it, that means absolutely nothing.

points

I am just wondering about their point reward system. It is run like a scam without any real intention to reward customers. right now you get double points for ordering on line and why? because all your points you have not use before the end of the year disapear and there is a good chance you cannot use them. What can you get for points? A coffee and a cake. OK, you can get a glass of wine but only with dinner (I never eat dinner there) and only housewine something you only would drink if you intend to commit suicide. Same issue with happy hour. You can get some group or family nobody eat (I am a one man group). and that is about it. Clearly there is no real intention to reward you but rather you get a feeling of being cheated. I would actually feel better without the system and with an honest attitude to a reward system.

The salads are pretty good, though not the best I've ever had (too little flavoring in my opinion), Asian food was good and the wine was also not bad. Staff was fast, no problems. I'd go there again anytime.

I tried the new spinach salad earlier this week and loved it, so I wanted to order it delivered. But the woman on the phone told me they don't have it on the delivery menu because it's "not suitable for delivery." It's a f**king salad! How can it not be deliverable? I told her I wouldn't order delivery if I couldn't order that salad, and she repeated that it "wasn't suitable for delivery." I would have happily dropped a hundred kuai on Element Fresh, but they INSIST that I can't. SO ANNOYING.

Sorry for the double entry here but is the MANAGEMENT of Element Fresh out of their mind to renovate during the summer! This is when they can take full advantage of their balcony/terrace and basically almost double their seating and cash flow. Why not renovate in November?! Not sure who is doing the math at this restaurant. I will miss the greek salad with lamb and goat cheese.

My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Grilled Salmon Salad. Love the portions. However, because it's a bit pricey (98RMB), and because I don't like to wait on weekends, I don't go to Element Fresh very often. I've tried a few of the smoothies (mango madness, raspberry rage, very berry) but don't think it's worth the 28RMB. Priciness aside, I love that the salads and sandwiches are healthy and delicious!

Very nice ambience, one a sunny summer's day, sitting on the balcony is good enough to almost let you forget you are in Beijing and imagine you are somewhere in SoCal. Their salads are tasty, hearty and quite good value. The same cannot be said of their western-style breakfasts though. Great customer service, the staff are very quick to remember a face and greet semi-regular customers with cheer.

What a great idea element fresh! Good food for a good health. It was always a place where i was going with my friends from passages in Beijing, 'cause there is always a plate that everybody love it. But since the last price increase, I am going over there. However their smoothie well worth a visit.

While the food is admittedly very very good, this place could do with taking 10 to 15 rmb off every thing on the menu - it is very expensive. The smoothies are delicious but too expensive to order every time I go, I generally stick to water. The food is also 10 or 15 rmb more than it is all worth. For a group of friends to go for dinner, it will easily cost more than 100 rmb a head even for people who simply order a drink and a main course. Also, the salads and sandwiches include the stalks and roots of the lettuce and to put it simply, I would expect better quality from a place called 'element fresh' which prides itself on salads and sandwiches. Additionally, the service is not great - they could work on their english language skills considering how many foreigners frequent this restaurant.

The last two times I've ordered my former favorite California hippie sandwich, it's come on different bread than before. It used to be a perfectly toasted, multi-grain bread. Now it's a limp piece of whole wheat. At the same time, the price has gone up to RMB52 (from RMB45). I'm willing to pay outrageous prices for a great sandwich, but not a mediocre one. :(

I am an extremely picky person when it comes comes to dining/going out but I must say, Element Fresh is one of my favorite places in the Bei. Its salads are super fresh and smoothies funky fresh. Everything and I honestly mean everything like the service, food quality/quantity, appropriateness of price, dining environment and efficiency of the staff was, in my opinion, excellent. Personal favorites: Indian Chicken Wrap, Laffa Bread Salad, Raspberry Rage Smoothie and Their Long Island

Its too much hype of this place. Firstly the time taken to get your food is too long. It look a whole 40 minutes , though I agree it was a rush hour, still they need to be prepared .And specially for items like the breakfast kind of food, wait of 40 minutes? I liked the smoothies.

Element Fresh is one of those places I never really want to eat in, but somehow I end up there on a fairly regular basis. The portions are generous and the quality of the ingredients is pretty high in most cases. Their strong points are the sandwiches, weekend brunch and the smoothies. The weaknesses are the dinner items (five star hotel prices for standard restaurant fare), the asian sets (larger version of a lunch-box but instead of costing 10 kuai, costs 60), and their sub-standard, soul-less, downright lousy service. With a question about a menu item, I hail someone I thought was a waiter, to be told very abruptly "i am not a waiter, you need to ask a waiter to help you". I follow this with "ok, can you ask a waiter to come and help me then?". Answer: "sorry, we are very busy at the moment". While I understand it is stressful working in a busy restaurant, but when we are paying prices as high as they are in Element Fresh, I do not expect this kind of response from the staff. Element Fresh, I would suggest you either spend more money on hiring extra staff to handle these busy times, or lower your prices to match the service level you provide, which quite frankly at the moment is no higher than in my local noodle restaurant.

Went there with a mate for dinner, and for someplace that was packed full of people, it was quite a disappointment. I left wondering if they actually were eating the same items we had, and if so how they were satisfied with them. We ordered an eggplant starter that was so bad we just left most of it on the plate. My mate ordered the mac and cheese with chicken, it was extremely bland, completely devoid of flavor. Did what we could with salt and pepper. Chicken was dry and tough. I ordered the indian chicken wrap(forget the exact name), it was ok, not bad but nothing special. Also a bit on the bland side. This combined with indifferent and clueless service and the price they want to charge for all of this, has kept me away ever since. I give them two stars for the decor which is nice enough, and the food at least being hot when brought to the table. Cannot understand this town's obsession with this place at all.

ELEMENT FRESH was one of the first places i tried in beijing, and i thought it was really pretty good. the laffa bread salad was enough for me, and my friend had the macaroni n cheese which was cheesy as hell but a bit on expensive side. i had a juice which tasted as fresh as advertised. i rank EF as a good spot for good eats, if you can afford the expatriate prices

Element Fresh, There seems to be nothing fresh about this place, we were sat a table in the back, as there were no out door tables available. We sat there for noless than 15 minutes till me and my dininng partner decided to try to flag down a wait person, We got a ok in a minute look, sure enough we sat there for another 5 minutes..still no one arrived to our table...The question on our minds was we should wait for them to come to take our order and spend our money..or should it be the other way around that they should be more than happy to see us.. well as welrealized that the whole place was poorly managed and lacked the common service basics, we left..on the way out the door the clueless hostess who sat us not 20 minuites ealry looked at us and said oh , hope you enjoyed your meal, we replied yes we will ..some where else.

Being from australia, i love a great sandwich and some healthy food! Element fresh has all those things... But its the restaurant i love to hate... everytime i have been there, more than 10 times... i actually have a vip card... i leave feeling frustrated with the service... On more than 3 occasions, i have selected my sandwich off the menu and asked for brown bread instead of white and mayonnaise on the side... i first go to say it in chinese as i think that way there wont be any confusion, and the waitress looks at me and says " i speak english" ... wow, ok.. so then i say in english, can i please have brown bread instead of white and mayo on the side... she smiles and leaves... 40 mins later my food arrives on white bread and with mayonnaise... as im paying the bill and leaving with my friends.. i say NEVER AGAIN! but alas... a month or so later i find myself back there again... lol i do love their juices and carrot cake...and wish they put pumpkin penne back on the menu from last winter! that penne was amazing!!!

good but way overpriced. great cobb salad and surprisingly good steak. but "fresh" means straight from a Huayuan Apple Juice box and some frozen berries. i sat at the bar on a couple brunch occasions as the swarm of fans bombarded this brunchie standout making it impossible to find a seat. i felt like i needed to trip a passing waiter to get any kind of attention. the juice-bartenders reveal that there isn't much to an Elements Fresh smoothie, and i was squirmish as i watched how they wastefully let the kitchen sink run full-throttle the entire brunch and not a single dish in the sink. now, that's fresh.

Expensive and (sometimes) worth it. I love that most of this food is healthy, uses quality olive oil (not animal fat like most Beijing restaurants) and has great portion sizes. Great coffee. One of my favorite places to go for breakfast ! However, depending on what you order you may or may not get your money's worth! Breakfasts are a good bargain and so are the salads. The sandwiches however, are not always worth the price!

The service quality seems to be spiraling slowly downwards, as is the quality of some of the food. This said, I like the atmosphere and have to admit that the service quality is still pretty high. The problem is that I've come to expect great and friendly service from the EF restaurants in Shanghai. Anyway, most of the people working there are still adorable and do their best to help you. I'm just worried the quality is going down further. The last few times brunch has not been good at all and coffee refills very difficult to acquire.

I have just arrived in China, so I have the benefit of not having fallen under the sway of foreigneritis, the disease where foreigners get so used to not having some of their favorite dishes that they think sub-par offering is somehow "as good" as the stuff at home. On to the review, I had high hopes for element fresh especially after hearing all the hype, however, in the end, that is all it really was, hype. I went to it looking for decent sandwiches and pasta, and came out thinking, I could make better stuff out of the can or at home. Furthermore, the prices were far overblown for the food I received. 10 bucks for near tasteless Pasta Puttanesca and Scallops and Prosciutto Pasta. The ribs my friend ordered were to near insignificant chops with mashed potatoes that barely would feed a baby. Oh, and the drinks were completely watered down. The cosmopolitan my girlfriend ordered had next to no vodka. Maybe this place was worth it ten months or year+ ago, but now, it seems like a waste of a trip. I won't be coming back again.

I used to love this place but it is pretty pricey. The prices have gone up since it first opened and though the portions are plentiful it doesn't make up for the amount you pay. I have enjoyed most of the food here except the quesadilla appetizer didn't have enough cheese! How could you have a quesadilla without cheese?! When I asked the waitress about it she took it to the back of the kitchen where the chef insisted that there was cheese put on it, though it was not visible nor could you taste it. The hummus appetizer is great because the give you so many different things to dip into it. The laffa bread salad is huge and the miso-yogurt salad dressing is delicious. For sandwiches I'd try the middle eastern sandwich or the eggplant with diavolino cheese. Mmmhmm tasty! Its packed all the time now and the service has gone down because the staff can't handle the volume. I tried to eat here yesterday for brunch and they told me I had 4 people in front of me. 5 minutes later I saw them sit 2 groups down and when I asked where I was on the list they said I had 3 groups in front of me. This was disappointing and I was in a bit of a time constraint so I had to leave.

The Village at Sanlitun has become one of my favorite destinations, in large part because of the easy, free parking. But the many restaurants are excellent. I dropped in late last Friday after a concert at Poly. It was 10 pm, and most everyone was closed. What is it with Beijing and the shortage of good late night dining? Hatsune turned away three groups as we arrived. Element Fresh took us in (although they closed shortly thereafter). The manager was so friendly and helpful. He is from Shangdong. I like the food here. The portions are American sized. I had the chicken which was good - not the greatest but completely servicable. The salads are really good. They were out of several appetizers we wanted to try, but that happens at the end of the day.

Ever since the opening last year, this place is constantly packed, with good reason. Although a little on the overpriced side, it's still worth it. It's hard to pick one favorite dish, they're all so yummy, but if I had to, it would be the vietnamese mango and shrimp rolls. Oh, but that's an appetizer, right? So I'll go with the italian tofu sandwich. Or the gargantuan greek salad. I can't do this, it's like Sophie's choice. However, no matter what I'm having, I always order the delicious "raspberry rage", one of the most delicious smoothies ev-ah. Also, thumbs up for the staff, polite and corteous; quite a change from the usual sulky waiters around town.

thought food and service was quite good, but so overpriced. i would rather go to alameda for western food (it costs around the same, btw). the only remotely cost-effective option i found on the menu was this prawn-paprika (???) salad for 40 something RMB. relatively big, but that's 2/3 of a lunch rapido at alameda. also beorn thx for the info on it as a place to work. was thinking about it and now i've decided against it

The decor ,the menu makes you sit up as its done quite well, the dampener is the service. Firstly it takes long time to get your food, because its crowded at peak times, especially lunch times. So please avoid this during lunch time. They also have this attitude ,they are good so some waiters have recently turned arrogant,so also the manager. The food could be good or average depending on the mood of the guy who makes it. We have had good as well as poor food too here. Neverthless I am positive that they will set things up soon. Though its overpriced ,the location and the for the ambience its fine as long it gives good food, which they should become consistent, then its fine.

(4.5 stars, rounded up) I don't see how people are so negative about this place. I love the outdoor deck area. The service is very friendly and we got our food pretty fast on an evening when almost all the tables were filled. All of our food was great. I got the Vietnamese spring rolls with shrimp and mango, which were delicious. After, I had the laffa salad. I thought the prices seemed slightly high, but then once I realized how HUGE my salad was (I could only finish half of it and took the rest to go for lunch the next day) the price turned out to be really reasonable. Other than Hatsune, this is definitely my pick for eating at the Village.
