This is absolutely the first spot anyone visiting Beijing should hit. Watching the sun setting over the Forbidden city and seeing the city lights take over is simply a must. From the park summit you are situated directly in the center of Beijing looking out over all 360 degrees of it. As you look east the city structures rise gradually from the Forbidden City out, appearing as a beautiful visual expression of China's growth, culminating with the 3rd ring CBD vista of CCTV Tower, WT3, and Yintai. The hike up to the summit is a short but steep climb only for those physically fit. An afternoon starting at Tiananmen, into Forbidden city south to north, into sunset at Jingshan is an almost perfect afternoon. Walk 15 minutes east to Yuebin restaurant for the proper traditional Beijing meal to cap it off.

Dun really find it worth visiting...but if you have the time, why not bring your kids along for a jog or hike and reward yourself with the view of the forbidden city (subject to weather conditions) when you have reach its peak.
