I have been living in Beijing for over 3 years and have to say Migas is always the place to go! No matter what you are looking for... great location and decoration, every detail is really cool, good food (from tapas to very elaborated dishes), awesome business lunch set (new menu every week!), original cocktails, wonderful events, great music and parties at the bar...and on top of that the rooftop. Employees are very very nica and always attentive. All in one. I have been there so many times and is always a safe bet.

This must be my best Dinner at MIGAS ever. The new dishes are just a full expression of Hedonistic gastronomy. Try the Crab Coca with the Migas Signature Josper touch, or the Bakalao buñuelos (my new fauvorites), also the fusion dishes are top-noch, as fun as delicious is the 5J Iberian ham Baozis which honestly I was a bit skeptical before tasting. Faboulous Job.

Always a fan of the rooftop bar, but I visited the restaurant very recently, which I swear I will never go back there again. You see, I lost my leather jacket in the bar a few days ago, and I was totally grateful that they found it the next day and kept it at the restaurant for me to retrieve it. But then happened the most awful service that had ever occurred to me in my life. I went to ask the head waitress if she found my jacket, she said they didn't find anything the day before, which made me very confuse as they had called me a day ago to say my jacket was there. So i said that but she ignored me. She was writing some notes, and it was about 1.30pm when the restaurant was totally empty. I waited for her to answer for ages but she didnt seem to bother to look up, so I asked another waitress which came to the bar. Suddenly, the head waitress started to SHOUT at me or more like SCOLDING me! To put in exact words, of course she shouted in chinese, was,'CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR AWHILE?! CAN'T YOU? THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR JACKET, ONLY I DO! CAN'T YOU WAIT?!' You can know I am totally shocked and stunned by her reaction, so i just looked at her speechless. Then, rather than apologizing for shouting, she looked up and STARED BACK AT ME and continued to SHOUT,'CAN'T YOU WAIT?! HUH?!' I was still completely shocked for a very long time, finally she let go of her writing and went to the bar to get my jacket and threw it in front of me without looking at me or whatsoever. All I did in there was being all polite with excuse-mes and thank yous, but this is what I get. I totally understand we shouldn't judge the whole restaurant because of one waitress going rogue, BUT, who we're talking about is the HEAD WAITRESS. I don't think restaurants which can't train their staff well, or even can't get a hold of their staff are good restaurants. Plus, restaurants worth spending your money at should acquire at least decency in both food and SERVICE, which this restaurant failed terribly at providing the latter. So to spend my money there? NO FREAKING WAY. This is my first ever time to write a review, because how she was was waaaaaay beyond the line to let it go. There you go people, this is Migas.

I'm one of the most devoted customers of Migas restaurant, bar and rooftop! I use to spent at least 4 night per week overthere and I perfectly know each manager, waiters/waitresses and Ayi working inside this spot. (please notice that i'm also a loyal customer of other spots in the Jing...not only this one). As a well-educated Italian dude, I do also own a strong knowledge about fine and casual dining field. I'm also one of the pickiest person in town, totally against mediocrity and pretentiousness, in fact, service wise, I can easily turn into a huge pain in the a**. Oppositely to few exaggerated comments below, focused on unlucky Personal experiences (totally inappropriate, offensive and a way too linked on personal point of view instead a polite and reasonable way to talk about possible disservices in order to provide useful advices) i'm not going to write about this spot, as you can guess I have just compliments and good thinks to say about Migas, but I'll try to explain b my point of view about the difference between critical review and rude public complaint. If I have some advice or complaint, I use to speak directly with the managers and the owner of a place place, but trust me, in Migas it's rarely happened. Flow into an inappropriate and rude list of stingy comments in order to undermine someone else business it's a regrettable act, especially when it comes from an hospitality person, you guys should sort out this kind of stuff through personal correspondence, as civilized colleagues. i do think about Migas as concrete example of forward-thinking combined with a strong experience owned by the whole team behind this project, a lot of places in town have just to learn from them. If you feel offended, brutalized, upset or betrayed by a place service, you shouldn't write any sort of review, but bring you complain directly to the owner of the place. A review is an evaluation, not a complaint. Consumer complaints are usually informal complaints directly addressed to a company or public service provider, which means that they should be solved between two party, avoiding the showcase of the public opinion. this is just about sociology and common sense. This isn't the right place for such childish acts. Fausto.

Worse service ever in Beijing coming from a foreign manager! I've been in Beijing for 13 years and never saw what happened today in Migas. We had a lunch and I actually a great starter. The main course was OK. But the whole problem started with the dessert. The ice cream had obviously been unfrozen and frozen. You could feel it by tasting ice crystals. We notified a Chinese waiter about it who said they make their ice cream every day and there's no way it should have crystals (which later proved wrong because they don't make it every day). We then talked to the foreign manager, who took a spoon and directly poked into our dish to taste it for himself. We were shocked and were not going to finish the dessert after he had poked his spoon inside! This is supposed to be an upscale restaurant, not a hole-in-the-wall eatery. He went to the kitchen and after checking, he recognized the ice cream had not been prepared well but the ingredients were fine. He thanked us for notifying him about it. When the bill came, no small discount, no proposal to replace the dessert. We said that if the dessert was not prepared properly and we made a recommendation, then we should get something in compensation since we didn't finish the dish. The reaction of the foreign manager was: "If you don't want to pay the bill because of an ice cream, just leave!". Without us being able to reply, he left furiously and threw the bill away. Wow! Super rude. Instead of arguing and leaving furiously, he could just have taken that dessert off the bill, propose to change to another dessert, or offer a coffee. You know, the small things that make a customer better and want to return. Alternatively, just politely saying that we pay the bill as it is, would have been fine too. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but when working in the service industry, one should be able to control one's own emotions. We left with a bitter taste in the mouth...

Tonight at Migas a loud group of Chinese on the roof were whistling for the waitress and treating her like a servant. It was pure harassment and was one of the most rude displays I've seen in five years in China. Despite the horrible treatment, the poor waitress kept smiling and went out of her way to be friendly to everyone in her section. Major props to this waitress for her resilience. Everyone on staff we interacted with at Migas was wonderful. Well done guys!

I'm not the type to write comments on these sites, but after reading Punjabi's shocking comments on a place I regularly go to, I simply have to add my two cents to this nonsense: Migas has good food, a fun atmosphere and friendly service. My girl friends and I love going there for dinner and then grabbing a cocktail at their bar next door. I agree with Edinburgh that Punjabi must have other motives for attacking Migas, as his reviews are unnecessarily aggressive and contain serious accusations (Watered down Tequila?? Migas is one of the few places in Sanlitun that serves good alcohol or otherwise we wouldn't keep coming back for their cocktails!). I can't believe this guy is in the restaurant business himself... what a backstabber! @Migas: keep up the good work and we look forward to more fun nights at your restaurant and bar!

My wife and I had a wonderful meal last night as always in this stunning restaurant where the food and service are exemplary. This is the second time this week we have been the other day was with my clients last wednesday where we had the chance the sample the new menu and as we enjoyed it so much we came back to try some other dishes. The restaurant has a very Spanish feel, yet contempary in design with a decor and music giving you a cool feeling of relaxation and transported to a world of cullinary heaven. The staff gave first class service and whilst (Tony) the manager could not supply my favourite Merlot the choice of another wine was excellent. I also enjoyed the chat with the head chef, (I think Aitor), who explained several of the dishes and the reasons behind the taste with gave our pallets a real treat! On writing the review I also checked other peoples comments and was shocked to see that of someone called Punjabi who in fact was also there on wednesday and had a completely different review. The reason I am horrified at his comments is that: 1. He came back for a second time and complained again (that is highly unusual, normally people dont return) 2. He made a comment about the manager regarding service and mentioning weight( Personal attacks are unforgivable in a restaurant review) I can only assume there is an alterior motive for such a review, perhaps he is jealous of the positioning of the restaurant and from what I read the Migas has a good standing with high class food from an chef who also goes beyond boundaries normally seen locally! Also there is a super new bar and I believe expansion of a rooftop terrace in the summer. If I was the owner I certainly wouldnt give Punjabi the time of day as I am sure he has nothing to gain apart from a complaining moaner who thinks posting reviews like this to offer advice is good business. Post a review if you feel it is good or bad but professional courtesy costs nothing, I hope he is waiting a long time as I would certainly not call him. On closing I have visted this restaurant everytime I come here which has been many and the event of 220 architects in March was such a success with service and food I will be looking to another one soon. Thank you all once again for a wonderful experience and already looking forward to our return in June. Andrew and Emma

22nd March. Dinner @ Migas. 8 people, 3,000 RMB for mediocre food. 2nd time service 'hiccup'. Table partners: Owner(s) of: Lily's Antiques, Tony Designs Furniture Magnate, Belita Jewellery, 2 of the biggest Antique furniture chains in US, One of the best restaurant chains in the US, I- owner of Punjabi restaurants and Manager of Eric's Hair Saloon. Request from waitress to get some lemon juice and hot water. After 20 minutes, no water and no waitress. So I looked for the manager (overweight guy with glasses) and explained the situation to him. He replied, "maybe we don't have lemon". I showed him BOTH Lemon AND Lime on the drinks cart. He said "these are lemons, not lemon juice". I told him, "you CAN get lemon juice from lemons!". The MANAGER of Migas' reply was: # "I know you. You are the owner of those restaurants. Why don't you come work for me as a waiter, and then you can squeeze your own juice!".... I was too dumstruck and shocked to even come up with a reply. # I would REALLY like an explanation from the owner(s) of Migas regarding their staff's behaviour. Yes, this is Beijing. Yes, we are used to bad customer service, but THIS? And coming from a foreign manager of one of the supposedly 'award-winning' restaurants of Beijing ? Owners, Please reply to me. Your manager has my name card. To the rest who read this, feel free to base your own opinions about the place. Me, personally and everyone I know are not going back...

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!! Went there to ring in the new year. Paid a substantial cover, although there was no live music, nor free drink to toast the new year. Paid an additional amount to reserve a table, which was a mere couch that could only comfortably fit 3 people, a couple stools, and a small round table (which could only fit a few drinks on it). All of this was supposed to fit our party of 8?! When we complained about the "table", we were informed that we only reserved for 6, and when we continued to complain, the guy replied, "Well, you didn't really pay THAT much." Apparently, he did not attend the class on good customer service! There were no apologies or compensation given (even ONE free drink for one of the eight of us would have been a good gesture). And after all the trouble, the music was only mediochre. NEVER AGAIN! Too bad cause it sounds like they have decent food...

One year ago, my set lunch was a deception. The starter was good, but after the pork was really common and the dessert so small... and not very good. But I get a voucher to go there again Friday Night. We took tapas: Spanish Omelett and Potatoes with spicy sauce and aioli: great taste.but before they offered us a pumpkin soup. After we shared "crab cola" (98 yuans), crab with stuff on a toast, it was nice experience but expensive for the quantity. I ate a wangyu beef, size of the beef was great. The leat was well salted, the vegeatables were good and the potato...difficult to remember, potatoes were just there for decoration... We finished with 5 textures of chocolate or I should call: When Food become an art. The presentation of the dessert was impressive, looks of the bird of their logo! But I was not a fan of their chocolate: not the way how they cooked, but the selection og their chocolate, too bitter for me. Apart that, the food and drink list is very attractive, they have all the tapas I like and service is friendly, they've definitively got one new client!

Rigas As Is a superb and trendy restaurant, and a really nice bar with cool sounds. You would get my five points ... But, sorry guys, closing the emergency exit, and letting all guests enter via 2 elevators: this is annoying at normal times, and it's simply criminal, if an emergency evacuation is necessary. For this, you earn not more than 1 star, and I hope you'll be soon visited by the fire inspection.

great location, great rooftop, but poor service. Last night, I found a piece glass (2*2cm) in my coffee or chocolate toffee, then got laughed at by waiters and waitress when I was looking for their boss. Found the chef finally, showed him the glass in my food, he was like:" really? really? really...really sorry. I am going to the kitchen and make sure everything is fine." The way he said it sounded like I put a piece of glass into my food and set them up. I am sure they didn't do it on purpose, but it was not a bug or another else, it was a piece of glass. It was bad!

Excellent location. Horrible horrible HORRIBLE service. Beverages out of stock (even though i could see them behind the waiter), RUDE staff, Card POS machine usage refusal by staff, and a not at all friendly "marketing manager. The staff wsnt even listening to her, even though she tried getting their attention. One waiter pointing to the one next to him "talk to that one". "that one" pointing to the same guy, saying "I am busy". I gave my contact info to the marketing manager, saying please get in touch with the management and let me know, if something will happen with the appalling service. I didn't get any emails from her, instead started getting spammed by promotional emails! From one hospitality person to another, FIX YOUR PLACE!

I first went to Migas soon after they opened with a large group of friends. The experience, the service in particular, was terrible. After a long discussion with the manager, the entire bill was refunded as we all felt was the only appropriate response. At the time, I didn't think it fair to mention again as the restaurant had made good on a bad experience. I went back again this week since a friend setup a dinner there to try the Spanish wine week special: five free tapas with a bottle of wine. It would have been nice to enjoy tapas on the terrace, which is beautiful, but we were told they don't serve food there. Oh well. We went downstairs to grab a bit to eat. It was like they didn't want to sell us anything. We were given the dining menu well enough but never asked what we wanted to drink. We asked for the drink menu in Chinese and got only the cocktail menu. I eventually got up myself and found a couple wine menus from the service counter. The server didn't know which wines or which tapas were part of the special. A flier was discovered that listed the only choice of wine and five tapas. We ordered several other tapas plates. It wasn't until after we left that we realized they never even served two of our five free tapas. Ugh. The food itself was good, better than I think it was on my previous visit. But still doesn't feel like good value for money. And the service is still regrettable.

My friend and I get to use the 2-for-1 coupon for lunch set today and we agreed that it's the best meal we've had in a while! The nut and cheese risotto was creamy and have a little hint of sweetness, very refreshing. The fish with pepper sauce was perfectly cooked. The starter and desserts were amazing too. My friend is in love with their green tea&white choco mousse. My only complain is that the service was a little slow (Which is okay since it was lunch time and they were very busy) and the breads before the meal were toasted until burnt. The unburned part had a very nice, soft, chewy texture though

Went for the 2-4-1 lunch special coupon (thanks CityWeekend!) and was pleasantly surprised. Soups were delicous and the fish and chicken mains both very tasty. Desserts were an interesting fusion of flavors. Very reasonably priced beers (25 for Asahi!), the only thing missing from the drink menu was some coffee choices (unless I just missed them?). Will definitely be back!

Went here for the 3-course set lunch, and was pleasantly surprised by how great the overall experience was! We had the vege and potato/chorizo soups which were delicious and very filling, followed by the chicken w mushoom & cheese and fish. Dessert was a green tea & white chocolate mousse, and cheese cake, yum! With funky decor, good staff, and delish food, I would definitely go back to try their dinner menu - and once summer rolls around, a cheeky after-work drink or two on their rooftop patio!

Yet again a great lunch at Migas. I don't know why more people aren't coming here, but this place is great. The lunch menu is incredible. I promise you will not leave here hungry as the starter item will leave you both full and incredibly happy. I've learned to rely on their soups - no matter what it is it will taste very good and you'll regret not having it. I look very much forward to coming back.

This Christmas Eve we went to Migas for their 3-course (85 rmb) lunch deal. For this price and time of day we expected a light lunch with smallish courses. We were pleasantly (well, perhaps our waist lines weren't) surprised to find generous portions. For first course I had the salad (tuna, tomato, olive, egg, vinaigrette dressing) which was very large and very tasty. Second course was a duck risotto with mushrooms - absolutely delicious. Others had the lamb chops which I was lucky to get a taste of, and they were equally fabulous. Last course was dessert - I had the flan which was good, but the chocolate mousse also tasted quite good. Overall our experience was very good and we look forward to returning in the near future.

Pretty solid feed. The almond chicken was quite good, pregnant tomato good, king prawns tasty. Service was okay. They initially told me I couldn't order a cocktail downstairs (only in the lounge upstairs) but I insisted that that was the stupidest thing I've heard in my life and they relented. Aside from the fact that they can't swipe a card and don't give receipts, it's alright. Just allright. Probably won't go back though till they can sort of receipts and credit cards.

Love the place. Try anything they cook in the oven...aromatic lamb shoulder, pork ribs or the sukling baby pig. It just melts in your mouth. The selection of rices is also fabolous. Amazing wines and a great rooftop to relax, enjoy before is too cold. Last but not least: warm and super attentive service. Eduardo is a fantastic host.
