Description

This contemporary Sichuanese restaurant bridges the gap between homestyle and elegance, boasting a decor that is posh but not pretentious. The preparation and presentation of dishes are innovative and low on oil while retaining their classic spice and flavors. Even fusion dishes are executed succesfully, and service, environment and attention to quality make Transit worth a little extra coin.

My favourite modern sichuan restaurant here in Beijing. My husband and I love going there to eat. The lamb ribs, prawn with the chocolate sauce and the oxtail with the peppers ...the list could go on and on, everything is delicious.

overpriced and poor service. Food was nice but not half as good as I expected after hearing all the hype. I won't be returning

I had some co-workers from Italy visiting Beijing and as they were looking for good chinese food I took them to Transit. I liked the food even though some dishes were just too hot for who is not used to Sichuan pepper. The service was great and we had a delicious rose wine, which I don't recall the name, but was perfect chilled and had an amazing aroma. Prices are a little high but since you are in Sanlitun North it is what you can expect.

One of the best fine-dining Chinese restaurants in the city, IMO. Not exactly authentic, but creative food that tastes good and is well-executed. Portions are on the small side but everything is so rich that you WILL leave satisfied. We had the pork knuckle, which has been one of the few cuts of meat I've consumed here that fulfills the accurate definition of "unctuous." Both the dan dan mian and koushuiji lived up to their reputation. Only regret was that we didn't order the shuizhuyu, which tellingly was on almost every other table.

Was almost empty on a Saturday night. Had the shredded chicken, bamboo chips, and two vegetable dishes. All alright. The stand out though was the crispy eel. It was one of the best dishes I've ever had in China. Drink prices bordered on the ridiculous. 40rmb for a Tsingtao. Wait staff were on point until we asked for the bill. Took a good 10 minutes. Worth it just for the crispy eel.

This is truely the "gap between homestyle and elegance". I will definetely bring some business partners and guests to this restaurant. The service is great, the food is spicy but not oily. The menu has all my favorite Sichuan dishes but done in a slightly different way. The fish was fresh and they even have organic chicken. Not a place to go for a casual dinner as it is a bit expensive. But a nice destination to go to when you have out of town business guests that like spicy food and you want to impress a bit.

What started with delicious cocktails made by a very charming bartender, continued with an array of dishes that were not your Sichuan joint usuals. The koushuiji was indeed fantastic as was the shuizhuyu, both upgraded versions of the originals. The crispy spicy eel was amazing too although a little bit spicy for me. I actually go there for dinner to entertain at least once a week and they never disappointed me.

Excellent in every way. I'm ashamed to have not come here earlier. The decor is elegant and unique but yet classic. I wanted to order just about everything on the menu and loved everything we tried. The koushuii is excellent, and I loved the shuizhuyu here. The vegetable starters were all great, too, and I was really impressed by a plate of what looked like boring steamed vegetables but turned out to be amazingly fresh and delicious since they're cooked in an oil that tastes of lemongrass. To top it off, the bar is fantastic here, with really top quality cocktails. Very excited to hear they're opening a lounge later this year, and can't wait to go back.
