About THE Russian Red Army Song and Dance Ensemble THERussian Red Army Song and Dance Ensemble, Russia's national armedforces' performing troupe, was established in 1973 and enjoys a highreputation throughout the world. During the development of theensemble, general Eleseyev, its president and art director, worked hisway through the ranks from ordinary soldier to general, and is the solemember of the Russian armed forces to have been awarded the president'smedal. The ensemble comprises Russia's most famous singers and dancers. Thedances performed are graceful and vibrant, evoking the fiery flavor ofthe armed forces, as well as characteristics of the Russiannationality. Solos are distinctive, and demonstrate a solid groundingin basic skills.
