Living in China can be a challenge for any expatriate, especially if you are thrown into it completely unprepared...and maybe even unwilling! This workshop will introduce attendees to ways of overcoming these challenges, and learning to deal with the differences between Western culture and Chinese culture effectively. This will be an interactive presentation, along with plenty of time for questions & answers, and for participants to share their unique experiences and perspectives!

WHO SHOULD ATTEND Any expatriate interested in learning more about the Chinese culture, and how to deal with the differences effectively.

METHODOLOGY There will be a presentation, but it is encouraged...even required.that all participants ask questions, challenge assumptions, and share their views. The session will be heavily interactive!

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER JANE PIERINI: Jane Pierini is a British national who speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese and has been living in Hong Kong and Mainland China for the past thirteen years, seven of which have been in Beijing. She holds a BA degree in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Leeds (UK) and is a professionally qualified social worker, having gained a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Hong Kong, in 1997. Her achievements show her to be an institution builder within China ranging across the creation of community focused institutions, hands-on management, training of staff, consulting on cooperation with other institutions and on fundraising, and assisting multinational companies create and implement their Corporate Social Responsibility.
