Most accompanying spouses who have had professional careers in the past come to Beijing without a job. Whether or not you choose to pursue work here, many of you will want to maintain a sense of yourself as a professional in some way. In this workshop, you’ll explore what being a professional means to you and what is most important to your professional career at this time. You’ll then explore ways you can maintain your professional skills or sense of self whether by setting up a professional project or finding alternative meaningful outlets that fulfill your needs.

CONTENT OUTLINE - Part 1: what is most important to me as a professional and what does it mean to “maintain my professional identity” at this time - Part 2: what is my professional vision for life after Beijing, and what might I do now to facilitate that next transition - Part 3: exploring ideas for setting up a meaningful professional project or other personal outlet that fulfills my needs
METHODOLOGY Experiential exercise, self-reflection, sharing and brainstorming ideas with others in similar situations, positive focus, action/results-oriented.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER SHERRI LASSILA: Sherri Lassila is a professional life coach, and workshop/ discussion group leader, specializing in self-discovery, life/career planning, and women’s support groups. She moved from California to Beijing with her husband and two young children in October 2006. Sherri holds an MBA from Stanford University, an MA in Education from Stanford, a B.S. in Psychology from Cornell University, and has been trained as a professional coach at the Coaches Training Institute.
