New Orleans has always been one of the top three food destinations in the World, the city of Jazz has also been giving birth to celebrity chefs such as Emeril Lagasse, Paul Prudhomme, Leah Chase, to name a few.
Co-sponsored by Agricultural Trade Office Beijing, US Embassy, Monsoon at the InterContinental Beijing Financial Street is proud to present a unique New Orleans Gastronomic experience from April 9 to 30, 2008.
With celebrity chef Nora L Dejoie flown in directly from New Orleans, she will come from April 9 to 16, to unveil an exciting New Orleans fusion of Creole and Cajun cuisine at Monsoon’s daily lunch and dinner, including Sunday Brunch.

Presented in conjunction with the US Embassy's Beijing Agricultural Trade Office (a culinary hotspot, if there ever was one), Monsoon is presenting a bang-up spread of Creole and Cajun cuisine direct from the hands of Nawlens native Nora L. Dejoie. Reservations are recommended. Lunch is RMB238 per person, dinner RMB258, and Sunday brunch RMB268 (w/o alcohol). Prices do not include 15 percent service charge.


About Nora L Dejoie Chef Nora Started in local television in 1994 with WWL Television, a CBS affiliate in New Orleans, worked as Assistant Media Chef and performed many solo live cooking segments until late1999. She still makes appearances today on Frank Davis Cooking segment when House Chef, Frank Davis is vacationing.
Since 1997 she has performed more than 35 international promotions, which included cooking, instructing and live demonstrations. Her specialty is showcasing Louisiana cuisine; while local musicians promote New Orleans music. Chef Nora travels with her own special mix of spices and prepares Louisiana dishes with available products in the area, creating as close to an original Louisiana recipe as possible.
Chef Nora has extensive experience travelling abroad promoting southern cuisine. She has trained, cooked and demonstrated in hotels and schools in Switzerland, U.K., Italy, Germany, Denmark, Australia and Singapore. She has also been a guest chef on numerous occasions with the InterContinental such as Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Mexico, Nicaragua, Santa Domingo, El Salvador, Honduras and Venezuela.
Last year Chef Nora took her zestful personality and talents to the live television and performed in a film for a U.K production company where she was responsible for teaching a young student from London about Louisiana food culture and created live demonstrations at Oak Alley Plantation along the Mississippi River in Vacherie, Louisiana. The show named "Take Away my Take Away" is not yet shown in the United States. The show is broadcast in the U.K. and teaches teenagers how to start cooking and eliminate take away foods from their diets.
In addition, Chef Nora has her own catering service where she services several boards in the New Orleans Area including the Port of New Orleans and the New Jazz & Heritage Foundation. She also owned and operated a small restaurant in the New Orleans and is often called upon to perform private chef services in the Greater New Orleans Area.
