Royal Hartigan, the percussionist behind Blood Drum Spirit, integrates Asian, African and Native American musical traditions into a unique sound. His performance at OT Lounge is also the release party for their Live In China CD.

royal hartigan Blood Drum Spirit will play both Friday and Saturday night, 2 sets starting at 10pm. their music is a culmination of a lifetime's experience, learning, and sharing the traditional musics of the world as manifested through the american art form commonly called jazz.
last year, i witnessed a crowd moved to tears during royal's drum solo. i highly encourage you to join us in what many of us would describe as a spiritual experience. they say something like 'last night a dj saved my life'. well, the music of blood drum spirit won't save you but in my humble opinion, it is the music /of/ life.
their imperial granary concert is CANCELLED so this will be their first concerts in beijing this year.
reservations are highly encouraged as space is limited in our intimate little lounge of 45 seats.
