Every Wednesday in June starting at 9pm, OT Lounge presents singer/songwriters from many corners of the world performing traditional world and urban folk music. This series is anchored by dombra playing vocalist/songwriter Mamer of the famed Beijing-based Kazakh folk ensemble IZ ("footprint" in Kazakh). Joining him on several of the nights will be Checho Malidito (Mexico) whose guitar-vocal repertoire includes Mexican protest songs and the American blues sung in Spanish and English. Also on the bill is Kamila Nasr (Canada) performing on piano and guitar with vocals reminiscent of fellow Canadian Sarah McLauchlan and Tori Amos. Two singer/songwriters perform each Wednesday night and in celebration of this new series: everyone who comes out for the music receives a complimentary glass of Jacquart Brut champagne (see Food & Drink Specials below).
