Description

Sport is being influenced by globalization: global broadcasting for sporting events, widespread dictates of aesthetic standards on sport and apology of youth by the international brands… It has become ubiquitous on the media world so much so sports competitions are now organized according to media’s logic and that the athletes’ bodies have turned into ''media body.''

This phenomenon is decisive for the sport and the athletes of course, but also for all of us. Even our sporting performances are far from those of an Olympic champion - our body is seen as a ''sport body''.
On the eve of the Olympics, François Soulages invite us to think about the influence of media on sport and focus on the perception of our body.

François Soulages is a professor at the University of Paris 8 and the National Institute of History of Art.
He is responsible for the Research Team "Images of Art and Contemporary Art," RETINA (aesthetic and theoretical research on new and old images) and the College iconic. His last publication: Relire Kosztolanyi.
