South African Hip Hop - Brasse Vannie Kaap
- Editor's Picks
This South African Hip Hop group was created out of hands that came from the heart of the Cape Flats in Cape Town. Brasse Vannie Kaap and their Africanised Hip Hop aim to take the negatives out of the Cape Flats culture, but not leave their roots totally behind. Also know as BVK, the group is a quintessential kaleidscope of characters, which portray with conviction, a mix of issues and peculiarities that is very Cape Flats. It takes an absorbing look at local trends and issues and utilizes and effective mix of street slang and powerful Hip Hop breaks to bring home the message. BVK have released 4 albums and the years down the line they have grown into a highly successful hip-hop posse. They have also become a popular act in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
