This month’s venue selected for your gathering pleasure – Stage One

Owner Christine Yu has made available Stageone, her daytime art gallery/nighttime hot spot for Network Club’s 11/11 blowout.

This re-purposed theater, originally built in the 1950s, offers a lofty high-cube 1100 square meters fitted out as a fabulous 21st century platform for new media art with a club vibe. A circular LED screen-topped bar punctuates the ground level adjacent to the dance floor. Cozy clusters of open seating in the center of the main room create a place where the young and restless can go to see and be seen. Private and quasi private seating areas flank the big room on two sides, affording opportunities to retreat from the crowd for a more intimate experience. The second floor consists of multiple private rooms and the featured display areas for Christine’s private art collection. The opening exhibit will be on show for 2 – 3 months, followed by other new media art shows with new artists four or five times each year. Stage 1 visions becoming the platform for new Beijing artists and up and coming artists from other parts of China, with a generous sprinkling of new media art.
