Mountains stand in the west, north and northeast of Beijing; the 10,417.5 sq km of mountainous areas, with an average elevation of 1,000-1,500 meters, account for 62% of its total territory. In its southeast lies the vast North China Plain of 6,390.3 km, with an average altitude of 20-60 meters above sea level. The 2,303-meter-high Mount Lingshan on the border between Beijing and Hebei is the highest peak of the city.
There was a very interesting ride through a forest at one point something for the adventure seeking downhillers, which most people sensibly walked. http://byfiles.storage.live.com/y1pgp5a7Axj6QlYzZ0heQ1b36V4eTjjeM88MByydT3anyjoP1d5fZ3b6Z4fvCvsT_gmOqycfDzr_bk

Dear Runners,
There will be a running activity on April 30 to celebrate the 100 days countdown of the Beijing Olympics. It'll be a good opportunity to have a close look at the "Bird Nest" and "Water Cube". Yes, it's on Wednesday instead of weekend days, but the next day is the May 1 holiday, maybe you can take that half day off ? Following are the details.
Time & Date: 9:00 am, April 30, 2008
Start & Finish Venue: Victory Square between the Bird Nest and Water Cube
Events: 2KM Fun Run & Men's and Women's 33KM Relay (4 runners run 10KM, 7KM, 6KM, and 10KM)
Time Request for the Relay: 10KM-50 minutes; 7KM-40Minutes; 6KM- 35Minutes. Slower than that will be picked up by the bus and the team will not have a result.
Entry Fee: RMB 50 (includes a T-shirt which is requested to wear during the run, relay runners will get bags and towels too. Bus transportation to and from your start place to the end from the finish place).
Registration: Email me the namelist before April 15 and I'll fax you the entry forms which require runners to sign. Payment of entry fees and picking up of race stuff will be arranged at the weekend of April 26.
