NGOs in China
The Lecture The two main points of discussion will be –
1) Challenges and opportunities for NGOs in China. Where do NGOs belong in China's legal structure and what are some of the key areas for development activities? 2) CAI and our work with China's underprivileged children - introduction to CAI and our work, discussion of what challenges we face and key opportunities for growth.
The lecturer
Judy Shen is the founder of CAI (儿童才艺行动), a non-profit organization working in China focused on transforming and empowering underprivileged youth through values training and education. Judy began CAI while in China as a Fulbright Scholar in 2005. She is a former Associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and is a member of the American Bar Association. Her previous experience also includes American Red Cross; U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency; and Deloitte Consulting. She has an A.B. from University of Chicago and a J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School.
The lecture will take about 45 minutes, followed by Q & A and some social networking with a glass of wine in our courtyard.
