Pub PR 'Flying Stars or Famous Failures: PR and Celebrity Endorsement'
Pub PR is a casual networking platform for anyone interested in PR, public affairs and marketing communications. We meet roughly once per month in a bar to hear and share candid, real-world stories and lessons from today's industry.
Our next meeting will be on an exciting and fun area of PR: celebrity endorsement.
Everyone loves to talk about celebrities and their endorsement a great way to add to your brand. However celebrities are only human, and can say the wrong thing. There are many recent examples of bad reputation- damaging scandals linked with celebrities such as Michael Phelps, Zhang Ziyi, and Sharon Stone. This talk will help us understand how to pick the right celebrity and, just as importantly, how to deal with mistakes.
Our speaker, Scott Sykes, has been a public relations consultant for
about 15 years. He is currently a freelance PR strategy consultant
living in Beijing and the author of the blog 36PR, at http://www.36pr.com
He was formerly the head of the Technology & Digital Practices, Asia
Pacific, at PR consultancy Weber Shandwick, and before that was a PR
manager at IBM. He is a regular contributed to PR articles in industry
media including AdAge China, Media Asia, Digital Media Asia, iMedia
Asia, Marketing Interactive Magazine and The China Business Network
Show.
