About Gerwin Tamsma
Before joining the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 1996, Gerwin Tamsma (1964) worked as a free lance film critic and editor, contributing to NRC Handelsblad, Dutch Film Yearbook and many others. Currrently, he is responsible for programming Rotterdam’s feature films from Korea and China, Spain & Latin America as well as Scandinavia. He is overseeing IFFR’s ‘Bright Future’ section for young filmmakers. He is part of the selection team for the Tiger Awards competition, and serves on the committee of the festival’s Hubert Bals Fund, aimed at helping filmmakers from developing countries. He has curated various retrospectives as well as special programs for the festival. He has served on national and international juries, for instance at Vancouver IFF and Buenos Aires’ Bafici festival.
