Eric Rohmer’s Retrospective
Eric Rohmer (1920-2010) was one of the founders of the French New Wave which inaugurated modern cinema. Rohmer's films concentrate on intelligent, articulate protagonists who arrived at moral decisions in their lives, usually through romance, often with a warm humor. UCCA will present some of his best-known titles My Night at Maud's, Claire's Knee, Pauline at the Beach, An Autumn's Tale, two other feature films, four short films include Presentation, or Charlotte and Her Steak (featured with Jean-Luc Godard) and two documentaries. A special Q&A session with Rohmer’s editor Mary Stephen will help us on our search of this lost cinema master. Screenings will be in French with English and Chinese subtitles. Screenings are on 35mm film print, except two documentaries. RMB15 for adults (with exhibition admission), RMB10 for students with valid student ID. Box office will close 30 minutes after the film starts
