JUE | Music + Art: Winnie Siddhartha solo exhibit @ CNEX Saloon

Winnie Sidharta explores the concept of narrative in realistic paintings through her artworks based on personal experience and observation during her life in China. She loves to explore the ordinary living of working class people and put it in different context, to transform the ordinary into the surreal, thereby seeking to create something that is both familiar and otherworldly at the same time. Her portrait paintings explore claustrophobic themes, where each portrayed individual is placed in an enclosed interior. In light of her fascination with op art’s visual illusion and romanticism, she also incorporates elements of this concept in her composition of realistic paintings.
