AccorHotels was honoring everyday heroes – men and women, such as firefighters, nurses, teachers, craftspeople, small businesses and local residents – who work each day to serve their communities, by inviting them in close to 2,000 establishments around the world, including over 100 hotels in Greater China. Swissôtel Beijing has opened the door to 17 everyday heroes on November 21, 2017, hosting a 50th anniversary event which includes a special “hotel tour” and an anniversary celebration party.
From November 19 to 23, 2017, hotels and resorts in Greater China has hosted a series of events for over 3,000 unsung heroes from all walks of life who have contributed largely to local communities and grassroots in celebration of Accor Hotels’ 50th Anniversary. Sixty heroic stories were shared across the various hotels during the week and these sixty heroes were hosted for a hotel stay together with their family members in recognition of their contribution to society.
To kick off the celebration, Raffles Hainan organized a cake making session and a special themed dinner for doctors who handle children and adults with special needs from Lingshui Rehabilitation Centre.
At Fairmont Peace Hotel, autistic children from Shanghai Hai Kang Bei Foundation were invited for a Cookie making and Afternoon Tea session at the hotel’s Jazz Bar and Jasmine Lounge.
An award ceremony was hosted at Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich for fifty guests from the local community in recognition of five unsung heroes on their contribution to the community.
Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental launched a social media campaign on the hotel’s WeChat as an outreach programme for their WeChat followers to choose the best heroic story.
Sofitel Xining held a dinner celebration for 150 people from social services, local charity associations, schools, fire and police departments. The hotel also invited a local environmentalist who shared his story about his journey and how his contributions have added to the community.
A cocktail party was held at Pullman Shanghai South to unveil the “Bring ‘Unsung Hero’ Stories to Life” photo exhibition to highlight the contribution of these heroes in the local community.
Swissôtel Kunshan supported the “Moral Model” election campaign organized by the local authority and ten finalists were selected to join celebration event at the hotel.
Forty unsung heroes who put their duty ahead of everything else comprising medical practitioners and fire fighters from the local neighborhood were invited to a cocktail event at Grand Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao in recognition of their contribution.
Novotel Citygate Hong Kong hosted a series of events in partnership with local NGOs to sponsor a basketball tournament and hold a career talk for fifty local students.
Novotel Nanjing Central Suning offered fifty free breakfasts to civil service officers in the neighbourhood on November 19.
