This is a joint charity initiative between The River of Grace Church and the Liberian Embassy in Beijing, To Africa with Love cooperates with a number of local businesses and community members to combat poverty and provide access to clean water and food for children in Liberia.
The River of Grace, in conjunction with the Liberian Embassy of Beijing, have begun a charity initiative to help the poor and needy in Liberia, Africa. This initiative began in November 2007 with a charity dinner in which the proceeds went to support aid work for orphans and the poor in Liberia. The dinner was held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Radisson SAS Hotel.
An estimated 86% of Liberia lives in poverty and 39.2% of the children suffer from stunted growth due to a lack of clean water and food. The International community in Beijing has decided to respond to this need by finding ways to help combat this problem.
Many local businesses participated in the event as sponsors. These businesses included: Sino-Swiss Hotel- Beijing, Raffles Hotel- Beijing, Sheraton Hotel- Tianjin, and Awana as some of our Gold sponsors. Other major sponsors include: Hilton Hotel- Beijing, Crowne Plaza- Beijing, Shangri-La Hotel- Beijing, The Kerry Center Hotel- Beijing, Jenny Lou’s, Grandma’s Kitchen, Ganges Restaurant, as well as many others.
The proceeds from To Africa with Love will be used to purchase and ship clothing, water filters, medical supplies, and other necessities to Liberia, Africa in the spring of 2008.
Our winter 2008 Packs of Hope project provided over 900 filled backpacks to orphans and poor children. Backpacks were filled with school supplies, hygiene items, and other items.
Bring your family to Smallville in Shunyi on Saturday, October 24, 2009 for an All You Can Eat BBQ Lunch. All proceeds will go to support ongoing To Africa with Love projects in Liberia, Africa.
Enjoy an afternoon of fun with your kids at a Harvest Family Carnival. The Carnival will be held at the Great Hotel on Saturday, October 31, 2009. Proceeds from the event will support To Africa With Love projects.
