China's first South African restaurant offers unique South African cuisine in a chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Look for the air dried beef and feta salad, a specialty of the region. They also have a selection of South African wines, with most retailing under the supermarket prices in Beijing.
Take the Airport expressway and exit at the fourth exit(BeiGao). At the first traffic lights turn left, and carry onto the next traffic lights where you turn right into the complex. The restaurant is situated across the bridge in the Clubhouse.
The first Southern African restaurant in China, The Pinotage offers unique South African Cuisine and specializes in South African wines. They also offer private wine tastings with their very own in house wine specialist!
The style offers customers a view of the more modern side of Africa, with a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Their prices are extremely competitive with all the top restaurants in Beijing. The wine prices are definitely the main feature of the drinks menu, with most of the wines retailing under the supermarket prices in Beijing.
Beijing’s first South African restaurant offers diners a spacious outdoor terrace perfect for summer evenings, a menu of meats and curries, quite good service and an exceptional and affordable wine collection. We started with the Air Dried Beef and Feta Salad (RMB40), a tasty mix of vegetables topped with strips of meat, one of South Africa’s specialties. We also had the Grilled Salmon (RMB80), which was enjoyable, although we would have liked more of the delicious sauce, and the Lamb Tomato Bredie (RMB80), a lamb stew with tomato sauce, both served with rice and vegetables. Dessert is a must at Pinotage, where the rich Chocolate Mousse (RMB35) and Lemon Meringue (RMB30) left our sweet teeth satisfied. The Riebeek Cellars Sauvignon Blanc was a steal at RMB85, and, like all wines at Pinotage, is sold to take home at even RMB30 less than the menu price, so it’s no wonder the new restaurant is already packed at weekends.
