meh. I had heard some great things about this place and the menu seemed to be pretty extensive, but I was not so impressed. Our party of 4 arrived and the place was abotu half full. We ordered a bottle of white wine, a caesar and garden salad, veggie pizza, mashed potatoes and a veggie sandwich. The pizza was thin crust and heavy on veggies--it was good. The salads were standard--the caesar was alittle heavy on the dressing. The mashed potatoes were just OK. The sandwich had cheese and coleslaw and served with french fries...my friends liked it. The wine was piss water. Frankly, with my circle of friends, it was a real bummer. I'll probably go back to try one of their set menues, especially since they are well reviewed.

Connections has refined cuisine which highlights the gamut of original American gourmet. American style hamburger is smarty choice for a quick bite. Excellently cooked salmon dish and fillet steak dish are my personal faves. And the place is a quite comfy restaurant with exceptional deco. The whole wall of hand painting impressed me most.

3.5 stars. The restaurant's been completely remodeled in the last couple of months, the menu's been redone, and the cooks and staff are all new. The downstairs now has red booths and looks cleaner than in the old photos that I saw. The upstairs is really cozy, with lots of couches and books and is popular with larger groups. The food is pretty straightforward, no-frills American diner or Chinese-style Western cuisine. The garden salad was iceberg lettuce based and came with a house-made thousand island dressing. It's pretty typical, but it's only RMB10, so there's nothing to complain about. I really liked the cheeseburger - it came with pickles, mustard and ketchup, as well as the standard lettuce, tomato and onion, so it was pretty flavorful and I enjoyed eating it. As for the apple pie - I've had better, but again, it's only RMB10, and it's totally fine for that price, especially when you add RMB5 for a scoop of ice cream. I was impressed with the cocktails -- I had a large lychee martini that tasted great and only cost RMB30. That's a really excellent deal. Overall, this place is great for those looking for Western food on a budget, and the cocktails are a real find.
