Complete with checkered tablecloths and friendly, English-speaking waitstaff, this venerable eatery attracts homesick American families who scoff down fluffy pancakes, steak sandwiches, hamburgers and fries and hunks of the best cheesecake in town by the plateful, all washed down by cups of black coffee.

12:15 Arrived and immediately ordered french toast and mashed potatoes for my friend.

13:00 Mashed potatoes arrived.

13:40 No french toast arrived yet. Meanwhile neighbors came, ate their burgers and fries, and left, as we kept pushing for "where's the french toast?"

13:45 Gave up, paid bill (which of course was wrong and still had french toast on it). Left on an empty stomach without a single "sorry" or "dui bu qi" from the staff.

13:50 Got my chicken burger and a "dui bu qi, rang ni jiu deng" (sorry for having you waiting so long) after waiting only 2 minutes at the KFC next door. Ironic.

I would've complained using the "comment box" if it wasn't for it being without paper or pens, and if it wasn't for the fact that this is the third time they couldn't deliver a french toast in any reasonable amount of time.

I don't know what's up, but their order queuing system is messed up.

This place makes the best country skillet in town.

Good place for breakfasts. The burgers are a touch dry for my liking. The milkshakes are a must have. Their Chengdu restaurants are worth a try if you ever have a craving for Western food in Sichuan!

I used to love this place, but it's gone down-hill with respect to service (see above). Also sad to hear they're another case of foreign-local partnerships gone bad; the original Grandma is long gone.

All the above complaints ring true, but the place is packed out every weekend with westerners filling their mouths with food. And there is a cat: it's a very cute cat.

Popularity in this market is meaningless in terms of food quality I guess. I just had a pastrami sandwich that was a complete disgrace. One slice of pastrami. One! Clearly Grandma packed her bags and the numbers crunchers are in charge. Well, if you have the guts to charge 40 yuan for a sandwich containing 3 kuai worth of ingredients, you should at least honor your advertising and ensure that your wireless connection is working. Now I have a belly full of overpriced, worthless food and I have to go to Starbucks to send an email. You know, their chicken foccaccia sandwiches are a far sight better than the one I just had here, and cheaper by 12 kuai. And THEIR wireless works. I'll know better next time!

Really reasonable prices for some good ol' American food...excellent milkshakes - try a banana milkshake with hot fudge mixed in (it's not on the menu, you must request it separately, but it's so good!)...they're opening a new location in wudaokou as well!

It's a good little diner, good, not great. Service is hoped, but don't bet on it. Overall if you're in the neighbor, it's still a good dinner, wished the table and chairs more comfy.
