Tim does barbecue the way connoisseurs want it, serving up generous portions of tender brisket, barbecue chicken and a variety of ribs complemented by slaw, cornbread and A&W root beer. The friendly waitstaff greet the largely expat crowd with a hearty "howdy" in a multileveled, lone-star themed setting.

I was at Tim's last night for Trivia Night and tried the beef brisket. Unbelievably good. Soft, slow cooked brisket in a spicy sauce served with sides of potato salad, cole slaw and baked beans.

There are some amazing dishes on the menu here—not to mention a solid menu of craft beers, including one of my favorites: Brooklyn IPA.

I was never super impressed with the food here, but then I discovered the chalupas: crunchy round tortillas with beans, cheese, lettuce, salsa and guacamole. I highly recommend them! The apple pie's decent, too, but I always feel too full by the time I'm done with it -- it's better shared between two people I think. The best thing at Tim's is probably the Tuesday quiz night, which can really get the place packed. It's a really fun, relaxed social event that's just what everyone needs on a Tuesday night.

It aint Austin, but its as good as it gets in this part of the world.

This is real Texas BBQ. I particularly like the beef ribs. Portions are huge.

Potato salad a bit bland. They used to make a version with Jalapenos that I liked, but it no longer seems available.

Every time I went to Tim's Texas BBQ with friends, we had very good time. My friends and I really like the beef ribs and hamburger there.

I have had a solid experience at Tim's every time I have gone. Service, like in most Beijing restaurants, can be up and down, but I can say without hesitation that Tim is committed to giving his customers quality service and Beijing's top Tex-Mex fare.

Dear Jaded. I'm terribly upset that you received bad service and/or food at my establishment. We have many regular and repeat customers - some of them travel from outside Beijing - to dine at my place, so I'm sure that we 'get it right!' most of the time. I invite you back to give us another try, at no cost, and would also welcome more feedback from you. Please call me at 13701084766 if you are able and willing to discuss further

Since we live around the corner, thought we would give it a try. BUT WOW, what a TERRRRRRIBLE experience. we ordered the 'fish & chips', a mushroom/cheese burger, & a caesar salad to start. what did we get?

first, comes our 'fresh chips' (aka chips and guacamole) and once the waitress heard that we ordered 'fish & chips' and not 'fresh chips', she had the nerve to cover up her blunder by saying that these chips were made from 'fish skin'; so it was technically 'fish & chips'. OF COURSE! HOW MORONIC OF ME!?!

people make mistakes; I get that. but to try to cover up your mistake by saying that 'fish & chips' consists of tortilla chips and guacamole is utterly pathetic. also, since both me and my gf can speak Chinese, the language barrier was not the problem.

second, the caesar salad comes and if I wanted mayo served on some lettuce, I think the local JingKeLong market could have handled that for me. how could a simple dish go so wrong?

lastly, the best part... my burger. I would think that a restaurant that has the word 'BBQ' in its name would not mess that up but low and behold, I get served a black paperweight nuked past recognition that is impersonating as my burger patty (with 2 dinky pieces of mushroom melted over a Kraft single). YEE-HAWWW, that's some texas cooking!!!

Just a word of advice, you know how some reviews of other eateries say "try this dish" or "stay away from this dish". Well, my advice is pretty simple. I have been living in China for over 6 years now and I can safely say that this was probably the worst dining and service I have ever had. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Well, at least they didnt f*** up the Diet Coke.

Being at the Roadhouse a few times i gave this one a try the other night. Had the brisket, which was quite a generous serving of juicy tender meat with too little barbecue sauce. The coleslaw was nice but the other two sides were disappointing, the potato salad bland, stale and barely edible, the wagon beans looked so yummy, but were not, they were overly peppery, bland and watery. The quesadilla, was crunchy tasty delicious. Service is very nice and helpful. Dongdaqiao can be a nice place for having a beer, some decent food and sitting outside watching people passing by on a warm summer evening...
Solid experience and having the CW 20% coupon at hand very affordable.

This might be the best Central Texas bbq you're going to get in this hemisphere. That said, it ain't no Kreutz's or even Cooper's, but there's plenty good enough to chaw off any irrational bbq cravings. The sides, aside from the potato salad, are nothing to write home about, with me seconding the aforementioned weak beans account. Real central Texans, though, care about sides about as much as a cow cares about kelp. Which begs the question of why the beef is dry. Perhaps Chinese cows just don't sport the marbling and fatty heft of their stateside cousins. Either way, I had to use a good bit of bbq sauce for my beef ribs and brisket, a big no-no. I gotta say though, their flavor and smoke is pretty durn good. Tim's a good guy, and his staff are eager to please. I didn't have trouble ordering in either English or Chinese. Did I order anything else besides bbq off the menu? Besides a Brooklyn IPA, which I'm grateful they carry, hell no, why bother? All in all, a kitschy, fun place with good beer, decent bbq, and nice people. Sound like it's worth going to?

Tim says Sundays at 8 a.m. will feature some NCAA football games this fall. So other than having a Brooklyn Ale or Rogue to kick off the day — possibly an Irish Car Bomb — there is no way one can pass up the beef brisket.

It takes some additional barbecue sauce to get the perfect taste, but this is a minor technicality. Tim's Texas BBQ is easily some of the best "mid-western" food in all of Beijing.

I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere after being in Beijing for several months it was a pleasant change with good service and fairly authentic food. I was most surprised to find American microbrews available, they also made a half decent Margarita!

Hey - thanks for giving us another try. I'm afraid that the total food and service had deteriorated at the former location and business arrangment. Since our move to the new location we've put in a lot of hard work to get back that friendly service and ensure that no corners are cut, when it comes to the quality of food. We get a lot of repeat customers so we must be doing something right!.

Thanks for coming back in and I look forward to your next visit.

Went to this restaurant again a couple of weeks ago. Pork ribs were excellent this time. Service was friendly and good. Sat on the second floor which was smoke free and had room for the kids to run around.

Brisket & slaw were both too dry for my taste. Pork ribs had excellent flavor and a nice layer of fat. Cornbread was good.

Tip: It's on the east side of Dongdaqiao Rd., just south of Guanghua Rd (don't be fooled by the map on their website).

The Texas sized brisket was fairly small but tasty. The beef ribs were enormous but a little tough. The pork ribs and the cornbread were rather good but the beans were a little tasteless. A so so experience.

I ordered some food here through Goodies Beijing last week and can safely say it was the worst, sub-standard food I have ever had. Meat was bad quality and inedible and the "coleslaw" was merely tired looking cabbage with not a hint of dressing. Would stay well clear of this place.

Beans and Cornbread is good I complained about both the watery beans and the savoury, non-Jiffy cornbread when I had them as side dishes, but The Texan's right... when combined together, they're quite tasty!

I'll get my chance when we launch 'Ollie's Oklahoma Trailer Joint' :-)

Rockets red glare Enjoy authentic Texas bbq served up with heaps of brisket and a healthy dose of draft beer by the pitcher...but when will that slingbox make an appearance? Can we expect to see any 2006 NCAA bowl games?
