Duck has long featured in both Chinese and French cuisines and this upscale restaurant brings together recipes from these two giants of culinary culture. Dishes include the delicious roast duck breast with mango lime sauce plus more exotic offerings such as duck webbed feet or tongue and, of course, the classic kaoya. The dim sum is also some of the city's best.
Double the Duck
4.5/5 stars
Duck de Chine’s second location is bigger than the first, but with the same excellent food. The design is very similar, although the Jinbao Street branch boasts a large, attractive courtyard. The duck here (¥228) is our favorite in Beijing, served with a unique, sesame-infused sauce. The dim sum is affordable and stands out against the competition at Wangfujing’s nicest hotel restaurants. We especially recommend the steamed pork buns (¥14/three) and the chilled mango sago cream with pomelo (¥24). The xiaolongbao (¥16/three) aren’t as delicate as Din Tai Fung’s, but the taste is superb. We wouldn’t go out of our way to visit this location over the original, but it might be a bit easier to get a table. Still, dinnertime reservations are a must—especially if you’re ordering a duck.
