This restaurant brings a touch of Brazilian sass to the streets of Sanlitun. The modest menu changes daily with fresh ingredients as the chef presents innovative contemporary cuisine. Try the rapido lunch sets that are great value for money and their steaks are arguably the best in the city.

"two slices of mozzarella", how can they possibly provide only two slices of mozzarella cheese, in a plate called "mozzarella"? Inquiring the waiter got me a "this is what is own "... too bad... so many places are far better then this...

There is nothing not to love about this restaurant - delicious food, changing menu, good wine, intimate atmosphere and all for a good value. Will definitely be back - soon!

so i hadn't gotten around to trying this place because i wanted to do the biz lunch as an intro. no point shelling for the whole shebang at the outset when there's a trial size. i sincerely, wholeheartedly await the day that restaurants abandon the all-white, hard surfaced mid-century modern aesthetic and embrace something cozier, less noisy, and more authentic to their cuisines. that said, the best thing about my meal was the cheese bread. takes me back to churrascurias i've been to and loved. the wine selection ain't shabby either. however, my baby squid with paprika were a bit rubbery, though the flavors were simple and went well with the salad. the main course was easily the most disappointing part of my meal. someone should teach the chef that the merits of roasting or searing a fish are obliterated when you ladle sauce atop the crisp fish skin. overall, i think it's a decent value for lunch, though if the quality and attention to detail is as poor for dinner as it was for lunch, i won't be going.

Why all people talk about this place? I do not see why. I hope is about the prices...Tha service was modest, dirty dishes and no specially attentive. The food was not nothing special...the cheese bread rubber and coffee...terrible. Fortunately we have much better restaurants in Beijing.

The sauce are too heavy to digest, If you ask for a dish with out garlic or black pepper is looks give very hard time. Just suggest witch they prepare with out this two ingredient. Nice location but is better to be more flexible on the menu.

This place is lovely! Hidden in a little courtyard opposite the sanlitun village, it has ambience, good service, and GREAT food. Everything I have tried there has been tasty, and the wine selection is superb (although I admit I'm not exactly a connoisseur!). The set lunch menu is definitely the best deal (60RMBpp) - as much as I enjoyed dinner, it did feel a bit pricey (dinner set menu includes two courses and bread platter for 158RMBpp). I would also recommend asking for a table away from the entrance when booking. Great date place! :)

Booked for a table of 20 for the 'Rapid Lunch' RMB 60 menu - was advised that it was only for 8 people or less. They offered me the RMB158, 3 course menu with an added 10% surcharge for more than a group of 10. Was told the reason for this is that more work needs to be put into serving over 10 people....Thought it might be easier for them to serve 20 people with the rapid business lunch...??

It is open. Had dinner there last night for the first time. Food was good. They had a 2 course set menu for 158RMB with good selections. The filet mignon was perfect, but the rack of lamb was slightly overcooked and dry! The wine selection was good, but we were disappointed with the bartender - they did not know how make a dry martini (a problem we've encountered several times here in Beijing already - they use sweet vermouth instead of dry vermouth)! We liked the ambiance. It was nice to be in a quiet place, away from all the fireworks and firecrackers exploding outside. The desserts were another disappointment - they looked great, the presentation was very nice, but the taste was very blend, almost not sweet enough. There's room for improvement there...

food is soso, service is average, over rated.

Went here twice. 1 star off for being yet another perpetrator of the snobby-wait-staff-at-an-expat-frequented-restaurant. Otherwise known as the disease of when Chinese people - wait staff - become snobby toward other Chinese people who enter the store and apparently can't deign to serve them equally. Also, it almost seems like a requirement to speak English here. This is super pretentious. Where do you think you are? Who do you think you are? Even if you are an expat you have no reason to look down on other people, especially the native Chinese who live here. Just because you know English does not mean you are a better/richer/nicer/etc. person.

Dinner was amazing. The scallops were in the shell and baked with cheese and to die for. Amazing. Also had medium well filet mignon, which was also amazing. The passion fruit cocktail was also good, but much stronger than what I was used to so that I almost stumbled out of Alameda. The orange and passion fruit tiramisu was so so. Well worth it. Decor and the quality of the food (and the ENGLISH! I am not saying you can't speak English but please please please deign to speak Chinese to Chinese people if they want to!!!!!) reminded me of eating in the Bay Area, St. Michael's Alley in Palo Alto and (definitely not to the standard of, but perhaps in the spirit of?) the Chez Panisse Cafe in Berkeley. Very nice.

Lunch today. I asked for water five times before they gave me some, although they attentively served it to the table across from me which was full of expats. So I made my next request in English and they finally poured me water. I didn't get my bread until after the table next to me was seated and given bread. I had to ask for it. The food - maybe because of the bad service - did not seem as great as before. A completely overpriced and icky tasty mango juice (was scared of going for a cocktail again), the halibut risotto balls, and the pan fried salmon. Not as spectacular, since I had high expectations and was super excited to go in for the "well worth while power lunch." Had better salmon at the Left Bank, but it is good for Beijing. Not at the same level for dinner, but I can't drop 250 on dinner everyday so we'll see when I go back again.

The food is always amazing (love the entrecoute steak and crisp salads), the service is wonderful and the 60rmb lunch special is unbeatable! What's not to love?

o forgot to mention. i went there first for dinner. the second one for lunch. always got the seat inside not near the entrance. i found the place is still noisy, but the noise somehow sounds better during the day and it even makes me feel more alive.

been here twice. i really like the food here. excellent. they serve good wine. the waiter is nice, but overall service is average. my only concern of going back there is the place is soooo noisy. i can hear people next tables talking. and its kinda hard sometime to talk with ur friend coz u have to ask, 'im sorry, what did you say?', 'what was that?', 'im sorry i cant hear you, could u pls say that again?' and its not funny if u have to ask that again and again and again. and if i can hear other people talking, they can hear me talking too. i dont want people to eavesdrop what im talking about when i talk to my friend. but for the food, i think i will go back there again. for sure. i think if i got a seat near the entrance it will not be as noisy as inside.

Alamada is one of my fave spots in Beijing, a little pricey for those of us who are not CEO's and big business people, but still a good spot for a date.

Excellent value for money! The menu is rather small but varied enough for everybody to find something. The food was really delicious. The starter, some shrimp with spicy sauce..., were just right, the spicy sauce lacked a bit of fantasy though, it looked and tasted like a modified Thai sweet chili chicken sauce but i dont mind since i have a big bottle in the fridge of it and eat it with everything. The fillet mignon was done the way i wanted it and a good tender piece of beef.
The service efficient and friendly. For a relaxed dinner and a longer conversation maybe not the right place since it was crowded and the atmosphere is very energetic. -

Great Food! (Except the bread - dry and hard but disagreed by the waitress)Reasonable Price. Disappointed Services -> Poor Experience.

Alameda offers one of the best values in town for a 2- course gourmet lunch in a beautiful, airy setting. From the crumbly, herbed foccacia and cheese balls, to the gorgeous presentation of the appetizers, and substantial portion of the main dishes, the 60 RMB Lunch Rapido satisfies both the budget-conscious diner and the lover of haute cuisine. Plus, the staff scores major bonus points for bringing out everyone's courses at the same time -- an unfortunate rarity in Beijing restaurant service.

had lunch twice just last week and the food was great. love their cheese balls... suggestion: a bit more salad dressing please? service in general is alright... i think some waitresses can be a little arrogant because they know they're popular... gotta tone it down...

Service is so so!!! Food & the price is ok.

Great menu with innovative dishes. This restaurant live up to its hype.
I like to go there for lunch, but for an evening dinner the place is just too noisy for being fully enjoyable.
-
-
loved the food - for the price. lunch time - u-must-make-re-serv-a-tions. just so that u can avoid sitting down knowing what time u must pay the bill before the next person (who booked at that particular time) comes in...

As it said, book ahead and get there in time, otherwise no guarantee that your spot isn't fill up, they run a very very tight ship there.
Food EXCELLENT! Wine selection EXCELLENT! Service, with good English Double EXCELLENT!
Though just heard that Chef Vivi have left the place and planning to open up a second one? Well so far the food has kept it's standard and yummy!

Alameda is delicious food, great service and a relaxing environment to enjoy everything in! The set menus are definitely worth the money because all the dishes are top notch quality treats for the taste buds! (And the free cheese bread is yummy too!) I definitely love going back to this restaurant time and time again. Be sure to make reservations as it does get packed - especially for lunch.

Alameda is an oasis, but not of tranquility: The food is delicious and the way its prepared one of the best, since rich in details, in town; the wines are great and served at the right temperature and the interior is appealing. The only apparent downside in my eyes is linked to its success (and probably partly to the restaurant's design (lots of glass; tables pretty close together)): it tends to be really loud.

the food is not bad,and the atmosphere is really westernized...

i love alameda! perfect place for chit chats, the ambiance is very chic, nice glass house type design..my friends and i prefer lunch than dinner because it's more value for money

Great food, just a few things to correct with this listing Had dinner there with a friend and it was quite nice. A couple of things:
1) It is not "across from the 3.3. shopping complex". It is actually about 100 meters south of the 3.3 shopping complex, in a little alley off the main sanlitun street. From 3.3, go south about 100 meters till you hit an alley going east (other side of street from 3.3) and go in. If you pass Jazz-Ya, you're on the right track.
2) Price per couple is definitely a bit higher. When I went there, there were only set menus available for dinner, at RMB 158 each. The selections were very good, just that you're likely to spend closer to RMB 400 per couple, rather than 100-199 as listed above.
3) Food was very good. Even the bread was excellent. More french sized portions than Brazilian BBQ portions, but very tasty. Worth it.

I go for lunch a lot. I love the varied menu, although I have ordered the wrong dish on a few occations. Overall though I am not usually disappointed in the food. Service can definately be quite snobbish, but efficient.
