Featuring freshly baked breads, an array of exquisite French pastries, cakes and homemade ice cream, this premium bakery raises the bar for pastries in Beijing. Terrific hot chocolate, sinfully rich chocolate truffle cake and a daily soup menu for winter makes Comptoirs de France a great spot to recharge and indulge in a little people-watching.
With one branch already near Guomao, this French delight has spread its sticky fingers and now has an off-shoot near Sanlitun. Part owner and production manger, Philippe Ancelet has turned his passion and expertise for pastry making into creating this haven of decadent delights. The comfy booth or bar seating and chill lounge jazz go far in imbuing the place with just the right amount of smoothness. The bakery serves up a range of homemade ice cream, cakes, pastries, bread and chocolates. There is more then enough choice to satisfy both sweet and savor-tooths out there. We started our culinary endeavor with a savory splurge—salmon sandwich (¥30), turkey sandwich (¥25) and quiche (¥14). This was followed by the unavoidable onslaught of caffeine and sugar. A latte or cappuccino is ¥25 and an Americano only ¥18. Any of which is perfectly accompanied by a delightful lemon tart (¥16) or chunky chocolate muffin (¥12). If you can’t decide, opt for their range of mini-tarts, at only ¥5, you can run the gamut of flavors on offer. With attention to detail, quality and taste, this place is guaranteed to have you coming back for more. -CR
