Though tucked away down a dodgy looking side alley, this gem abounds with good taste and the polite attentions of its wait staff. Though vegetarians should love the hotpot with satay and the (imitation) hot sizzling shrimp, the wonders they work with non-meaty fare should leave even the most voracious meat lovers happy.

It's a good place for vegetarians, and the restaurant also dish up chinese culture with its own cuisine. Moreover, the building is a typical courtyard home.

I've never been, but supposedly, this is a very good vegetarian restaurant in Beijing.

I'm not a vegetarian, but this restaurant is simply one of my favourite place in Beijing.
Nice deco and atmosphere, quiet with soft music background, completely non-smoking restaurant, organic food, attentive service... And I forgot, their food taste great! I especially like their imitation of chicken legs, you almost feel like eating chicken!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Beijing. The atmosphere and ambiance is relaxing and inviting. The food is delicious and because I was living in DZM, the location is ideal. I should also mention that I am a vegetarian.
I was so convinced that I was eating meat that I had to ask the waitress three or four times before I believed her.
My favorite dishes are the sweet and sour "pork" and the "beijing duck."
The coffee is also good and EVERYTHING is not only vegetarian but vegan! They don't use dairy or eggs. In fact, they follow the tradition of Buddhism in that they also do not use garlic or leeks which are part of the "small meats."
It amazing, considering the amount of products they do not use how delicious and flavorful the food is. yum!

Make your way through a somewhat smelly, noisy and industrial-gray hutong and you'll be rewarded with some of the most tasteful, delicate and thoughtful dishes free of meat and MSG this side of the Pacific.
Upon entering Baihe Vegetarian Restaurant, careful, courteous service will guide you through the homey and humbly buzzing siheyuan past library, waiting and bar areas to bespoke and thoughtfully-arranged seating.
The hotpot with satay is filled with countless mushroom varieties for the insatiable fungus-phile, the tofu with chopped chilies reminds that bean curd can actually have taste , and the hot sizzling shrimp makes of imitation fish a serious contender to the real thing.
In other words, flavor, creativity and civility mean Baihe is a fair dining alternative—and not just for vegetarians. They and meat-lovers alike will leave this place contented. Sadly, you'll have to walk back out through that gray, drab alleyway. -Manuela Zoninsein
