This cozy café, run by Shayne Hannum of Shayne's Treasures jewelry, specializes in super healthy Western food. The Brazilian breads are stellar, and the lentil soup is a hearty meal in itself. Sandwiches are small but satisfying, served on Biteapitta pitas or homemade sourdough bread.
Light and Healthy
3.5/5 Stars
Healthy is the word at The Café at Palette Vino, a cozy eatery that’s already popular with Shunyi residents wanting something light and affordable. The avocado hummus and muhamara—a spicy blend of walnuts and bell peppers—are ¥25 each, and the lentil soup (¥28), made from owner Shayne Hannum’s family recipe, is a hearty meal in itself. The Brazilian breads are stellar, especially the pao de queijo (¥6 for two), a cheese bread that’s comparable to SALT’s. The ham and cheese risolis and chicken and cream cheese coxinha (both ¥12 for 5) are equally satisfying. With such delectable starters, it’s a good thing the sandwiches (¥32 for turkey salad) are small. Order one with your choice of Biteapitta pitas or homemade sourdough bread.
