City Weekend Says

The menu at this Italian eatery lists six pages of different types of sandwiches. Have them to go or savor them leisurely. Don't forget to ask for the special of the day and definitely try some of their desserts.

Contributor Description

With six pages of sandwiches to choose from, this small Italian eatery is a sure-fire bet whether you want a good sandwich on the fly or the chance to sit down and savor every bite. With prices ranging anywhere from YY25 to YY40, breaking the bank isn't really an option for good eats. Make sure to ask for the special of the day and sample some of the desserts.

Palatable Panino

Panino Giusto offers a broad array of gourmet sandwiches made with Italian cuts of meats like cured ham, wind-dried beef and tuna. The bright, modern two-story café offers sandwiches on toasted bread or ciabatta as well as a long list of salads. The ciabbata ham sandwich (number 214, ¥28) with healthy toppings of artichoke and roasted eggplant is a solid pick. The roasted eggplant sandwich with Fontina cheese, tomato and pesto (¥25) comes on basic toasted white bread and is nothing out of this world. Panino’s desserts however, are homemade—a laudable effort. We were pleased with the homemade ice-cream cake drizzled with raspberry sauce and our panna cotta served with a shot of espresso was smooth, firm and sweet. Service was earnest and personal—they mixed up our orders and took away a sandwich we’d already started eating with profuse apologies. Conveniently located, affordable and fresh, Panino is worth a visit.
